Ok, I'm not really sure where to post this. I was just wondering, arent female dogs supposed to have nipples?

Every day, I suspect Peanut of being a male, more and more.lol. I mean she is over a year old now. Isn't she supposed to be fully developed by now?

Nipples in a ***** that hasent had pups are very small the ones most visiable are the two nearest the back

Maybe they are inverted. what type of dog is it? Some breeds are not fully developed until 2 years of age. If she was fixed there should be a scar.

She is a corgi. The shelter didnt know exactly, but she is somewhere around 1 year and a month old.

I have a question of my own now. I went to check if Belly had nipples (lol :D :rolleyes: ) and I counted 13. Is that normal?

usually they do come in pairs. there can be an odd number though if the adjacent one got "skipped"

The adverage number of nipples is eight, she must have nipples, I've never heard of a dog without them, if you are worried ask the vet to look next time she has a health check

both dogs have nipples and believe me you would know if your dog was a male..it is kind of obvious..Bronki had one missing nipple..and the rest were inverted..so that maybe why you are not seeing them..inverted nipples happens to both men and women humans too. The number of nipples can vary.

if it was a neutered male, thered still be a very obviousl sign. since it is a clinical term I assume it will not offend anyone, but you would see a penis. or rather the sheath. neutered dog isnt a unic, just doesnt have testicles. I imagine they are there and you just cant find them. sometimes they dont feel like a bump, just look like a spot. have your vet check so you can tell us, for all I know she could be the first female mammal born without nipples???

uh guys... even neutered male dogs have nipples too...
in some spayed/neutered dogs (especially if they were done really early) they are just so small you can barely see them.

Roxy has 10 nipples. Ever since she went into heat the first time about 2 months ago, they are huge!! I took her to my "previous" work (the vet) and she said they were just swollen from her being in heat. At first when I just told her about it when she hadn't yet checked Roxy, she said it could be mastitis. When she told me that, I had decided that if it was, I would have her spayed then and there, but it wasn't. Thank God! Anyway, back to the original subject, Precious' or Spuds' nipples don't poke out that much. Especially Spud's. And Spud doesn't have his "friends" anymore.

I heard that they enlarge when the female is in heat. The pics will have to wait though. Its 2:30 over here and Peanut is asleep.

They do enlarge. Roxy's are huge right now as she is just coming out of her first heat. Also, I can find her bellybutton very easily. But, maybe that is because she barely has any hair on her belly. :)
Maybe nedims dog is a clone :D no need to reproduce. hee hee hee
