Well Boris got hold of a sponge again, and ate half of it... What should I do? What are the signs if it got stuck in his intestines?

bloating..discomfort..be very attentive that he doesn't get another..what kind of sponge was it? and how much? sponges are dangerous and my old boss wouldn't allow them on the property.

The regular dish sponges. He ate about half of it. No idea if he just ate a chunk of it or put it in pieces first though.

I'll never understand why he loves them, especially as they are always soaked with dishsoap...

Also, how do you see a dog is bloated?

Thanks.

Keep and eye on him for any discomfort and hopefully this too will pass.!! Keep watching for it...at least it had soap on it to clean him out !

his tummy will become distended with fluid and bowel that cannot pass thru..the sponge swells and literally becomes an impaction. How large is this dog? even with dishsoap..the food odor is still there. I read of a lab drug and seizure dog that smelled the drugs thru gasoline..i didn't think it was possible but the dog wouldn't pull off of the truck..the took the wheels, engine, everything they searched and finding nothing but the dog acted so sure that they drained the gasoline and found the drugs in there incased in glass bottles.I would find something else to do your dishes with and be very careful to keep them out of reach if you have a sponge eater. I saw a puppy die from one once.

He's a 70 lbs golden. We usually keep it out of reach, my husband has brain farts sometimes though...

Those sponges don't swell much though. No matter how much water you put in them, they stay the same size. And they don't shrink when dry. I assume they're not real sponges. I just call them that way.

thats good and if they are cellulous then the stomach acid should eat them up i hope.if he were a 20 lb puppy i would be greatly concerned..

He's fine today, still hasn't pooped yet though. I was up at 6am because I was worried, and all I got today was a nip in the leg. So ungrateful I tell you!

I won't feel better until I see this thing in his stools though... Hopefully he should poop in another hour or so (he never goes right after eating).

Ok he pooped, but there wasn't anything blue in it. How long would it take him to poop it? He swallowed it yesterday around 3pm EST...

Edit : Oh after checking it better, there are a few little blue pieces in it... I guess it went through fine then. Although I'm surprised there isn't more.
