After speaking with our chemical engineer and our molding expert, I have been told that is possible for our formulation of natural rubber to breakdown with heat. However, it would take a temperature greater than 350 F for 40 minutes for this to occur. Microwaving for 30 seconds or less will have no effect on the stability of the rubber. If you are still uncomfortable, we would recommend heating the food first, then stuffing the KONG.
As far as cleaning KONGs, we recommend using a dishwasher.
