mary had a cyst that formed on the eyelid..we had it removed, they also found another one (it looked like a mole) inside of the eyelid. It was a painful operation for her...then the scar tissue started scratching her cornea as much as the cyst had. She has an opaque area on her eye from this. Now it has grown back..she is holding her inner eyelid half across her eye and it is red and irritated so i guess i will have to take her back..i have tried using an eye lubricant several times a day..and eye drops that have a steroid in them to reduce the inflamation both are only temporary reliefs...but if i have it removed again we will be back to the scar tissue problem..last time it eventually softened up and she got a few months of relief. I don't know what to do...i will of course take her back to the vet and follow their advise, but i wanted to know if this is happening to anybody else. It has to hurt bad, in the morning she holds her eye shut. That is a hard thing to do...poor Mary...her other hock is starting to do what the bad leg did too.

Awww poor Mary! I have no advice Smkie, I've never dealt with this before, but I will think good thoughts for Mary. Would it help to hold a cold compress on her eye?

That is such a bummer. Did they use a scalple to do the surgery or laser? Sometimes laser is better, less scar tissue formation I believe. Katya had one on her eye but after the surgery it cleared up fine with the use of the eyedrops. Good luck with your baby, I hope it resolves soon.

Hmmm... if it were me, I would think about getting an opinion from a different vet. Maybe they would have a different technique or idea.

this is the human society and all i can afford..they do this not for profit and i have complete trust in these two women..they really care, they even removed a few other moles for free while they had her out. I will ask if they have a laser, i imagine they do. THis is a very good clinic. I couldn't have either dog without them. I just wish it hadn't grown back so quickly!

Those darn things can be quite persistant. I wish we had a humane society up here that had "at cost" procedures. Where I live you are all on your own for anything you need done. I hope that they are able to get rid of it once and for all. Maybe the laser will be better but I am sure they will know what the right course of action is.

they only charged me 35 dollars for the surgery..and the meds at cost as well. They do an incredible service, let poor people make payments..i get the heartworm meds at cost as well. That is why i donate a gift certificate each year to arts unleashed..it is a silent bid as well as others that have a sheet and people walk around bidding on what they want. About 200 artists donate their work. i have been thinking of donating something else then a gift certificate for a pet portrait this year..but haven't decided which way to go. IT is a big deal and the art is sometimes by very famous people.

Wow that is really neat. Someday when I have more time on my hands and some more money I hope to help out our shelter. People up here in MN seem to be behind on the times. Our shelter is horrible, I walk in and just want to cry. I know they do the best they can with the funding they get but it hurts to watch so many dogs become phsychotic because of living in cages for so long. I wish we could become more enlightened. I heard that in Flordia they actually have a big bus that will come and spay and nueter your pets for no charge! That you can bring your animal in any time and they will work with you, I wish!
