So I really need a hair dryer, Kyries coat is SO thick. I don't know which is good, and I don't want to spend over $200 on a dryer..
Which do you suggest/use? This is the one I've been looking at:

Thanks in advance :D

oh yeah. I have an Air Force, but it's not on wheels, and HOW I WISH IT WERE! That is a GOOD one, you will use it for years.

B-Air. OMG, BEST drier ever. I've used it at both of the shops I've worked at, and it is FANTASTIC. Its only $100

RR, I heard great things about those hair dryers, and I wasn't sure if the wheels would help or not, but apparently they will! I think that sounds like a really good one.

How long does the hair dryer last do you think? Have you ever had any problems with it?
Thanks guys :D

No problems at all. At the first shop I worked at she'd had it more than two years, the one I just showed you is a newer model, which is what I had at my last job, and I dropped it more than once (I'm incredibly clutzy) and it still worked fine when I left. :)
Those extra attachments it comes with are worth ten times their weight in gold.

IMO you don't want to skimp when it comes to grooming stuff for a newf. ;) But Air Force dryers are just fine, it's what I've always used.
You'll need a good force dryer, and a table dryer will definitely come in handy as well.

So do you suggest the Air Force dryers or do you have a better one in mind? I don't need it right away, so I can save up for one a bit longer if need be. You're right, I do need a good one, she's a lot of dog LOL.

Personally I am not a fan of the Metro dryers. They do work ok, but for a few dollars more you can get a Double K, and they are much better IMO, especially if you have a Newf!!! The Double K will be stronger at blasting the water out of the undercoat than the Metro. At the last shop I worked at we had Metro dryers for the self serve customers because they are cheaper. If a person came in who wanted to seriously dry their dog we would pull out a Double K for them. My personal fav for a dryer is the K9's, but because you aren't looking for a professional dryer the Double K is where my vote would be. When drying a Newf especially for a full dry time with only a HV dryer spend a little money because the dry time alone will take you over an hour.

We use a small shop vac on reverse. It works great, blows the water off the coat, no heat to dry the skin, and was like 30 bucks if that.. And with the long hose the vac is in another room.

My reverse on my shop vac would never be enough to dry my GSD or a breed like a NEWF.
I have an ostar stand dryer which I love and use for crate and table drying. Its not a super forceful blast thou.
Get the wheels you will need them. Pay the money for the dryer. When winter hits you will need it. I hate grooming in the winter since we leave the house around 65 degrees. I always have to have the dryers on the dogs.

That's interesting that you think the K9's are better/more powerful because if you actually compare the two- the Metro's are more powerful and, yeah, are cheaper.

Really??? Where are you getting your specs from? Straight from Petedge here are the FPM's
Metro Air Force dryer specs:
1.17 HP Motor: 18,000 FPM
1.7 HP Motor: 23,000 FPM
4.0 HP Motor: 28,000 FPM
K9Mini:
32,528 FPM
My Fav the K9 III:
60,921FPM
Air volume is something to take into consideration, however air speed is VERY important. The stronger the air speed the stronger the water is blasted from the coat. So if I used the Metro Air Force it would take me 3 times longer to dry a dog than with the Metro Air Force, and on a professional level my time is money.
I have used Metro dryers and have found them to be loud and take longer than other dryers. The K9's are wonderful dryers for a professional groomer, but because of the cost that is why I recommended a Double K. A K9 is the dryer of choice for many grooming salons because of how the dry time is reduced. The powerful FPM's blast the water from the undercoats!!!
A Double K is a great dryer for the money and only $50 more than the Metro. I strongly recommend the Double K over the Metro.

I'm sorry, I said K9 when I was meaning to say Double K!

Hmm, my bad. The Metro 4 horse power is 28000 while the Double K bottom of the line starts at 27000. So yes, the top Metro Air Force is stronger than the bottom of the line Double K. However the 4Hp Metro costs only a few bucks less ($150) than the Double K.

Hi have the $100 B-Air and absolutely love it!! It actual pushes more air than the 4hp Metro's we have here at the shop. It was the best $100 I ever spent and personally would recommend it for what you are doing. The K9-1 dryer is also excellent but probably too much dryer for what you are wanting to do. I groomed 4 Siberians for our NAtional with my B-Air and it was fine.

Thanks :)
SaintGirl, I think I'll go with the Metro for now- but the K9 will always be on my wishlist. It looks like a GREAT dryer and you aren't the first to reccomend it to me. I just don't have $350-400 to spend on a dyer at this time(there's a bunch of other things I need for Kyrie other than this). I really value your opinion though, and I would LOVE to get a K9 in the future, you've convinced me of that for sure. Thanks again for your help :)

Since you all know so much about grooming.. I'm just wondering... I don't have a dog with much of an undercoat to dry, but would these dryers help to get rid of extra hair? Middie sheds a lot, and I was wondering if one of these might help, LOL!

Forced air driers are good for getting rid of undercoat, I can't remember if this thread was about a fluff drier or an FA drier, but yes a forced air drier would help. :)

ABSOLUTLEY!!!!! These dryers blast away the dead and loose hair. The best way to help control alot of shedding is to furminate, wash and BLOWDRY!! I guarentee that you will notice a huge difference. Infact many of clients come to see me on a regular schedule for the shedding alone. With my Saint and HuskyX I take care of the seasonal coat blowing in a fraction of the time with the use of a high velocity dryer after a good brushing and a bath, and a good bath with a dry in between controls the dust bunnies that can happen in between the bigh blow outs.

Just to say, I got a Metro dryer and it works GREAT! I LOVE it! Cut drying time from 45 minutes(which resulted in damp hair) to about 25 minutes if that. I am SO happy with it. Wooo! :D
