I held 2 today at the adoption day. One weighed 3.5 pounds! Her tail looked more like a rats tail. Both were recovering from broken front legs. Hers was broken just from playing with another dog. So frail.

They were cute..you could see the light through her ears very easily. The first impression I had when I held the teeny tiny one was not pleasant...it felt repulsive and scary to hold her..like I would break her. Her bones were no bigger than chicken wing bones....and much longer.

That is too bad, they must either have been badly bred or poor nutrition when growing. The iggies I know are fairly hardy for their size, and play vigorously. As well as lure course and race.

We have one in Megan's obedience class...much bigger than that, though. I LOVE the way he prances....lol...so elegant!

My husbands assistant has two. Well bred but yes- frail. An unfortunately, broken legs even jumping off a piece of furniture is pretty common.
The IG rescue is a pretty serious bunch. I would bet they would take the dogs not only to heal but also to place in a home. Has anyone contacted them?

I am not sure if the IG rescue has been contacted or not..will pass alog the info if you have a link?
They are currently with Muttmums rescue. Both have had ortho surgeries. With the teeny tiny one..she will no doubt be at risk of fracturing again. The other was hit by a car and fractured..he's bigger all the way around..but still very frail seeming to me. It looks like he has an old healed fracture on the other front leg.

They always looked so frail to me too, and they shiver . . . I've always thought they were beautiful, but never wanted one because they look like that might break . . . but I never thought they actually where that frail . . . probably poor nutrition poor things . . .and I'm pretty sure that's substantially smaller than standard too . . .

I brought this up with a bunch of iggy people today. They said they are no more frail (well bred ones) than any other toy dog such as paps, chis, etc. Yes they said they can hurt themselves, but it is usually before maturity.
These dogs race, lure course, and do agility. None were shivery, only one was shy.

Good news...the bigger IG of the two has two adoption applications. Cross fingers and paws that the home visit goes well.
