Dogs pant (open their mouths and sticking out their tongues) when they are tired/hot. It's their way of sweating.

For the infection, go to a vet.

Sounds suspiciously like a snake or spider bite!! I would go to the vets!!

yeah give him plenty of freshwater. I change out my husky's water every three hours because she is wierd about drinking water and it has to be fresh or she'll snub her nose at it. As for not eating, how long have you had the dog? Our husky was the same way when we first got her, she wouldn't eat for almost a week, now she's eating a quality kibble. It took us awhile to get her to eat out of a bowl too, and then we had to fight to get her to eat kibble. Just keep putting it down for him eventually when he gets hungry he will eat. Definetely go to the vets for the ear though, it sound like a spider bite to me as well and maybe it got infected.

Wait, why are you giving her hot water? Give her plenty of fresh cool water and she will ALWAYS need a cool place to hang out. Husky's are meant for cold climates so she will always be hot - at least in the summer.

Do you mean that after the water's been in the bowl awhile and gotten warm she won't drink it?

There's an easy way to fix that. Take a plastic container, like a margarine tub, and fill it with water to about a half inch from the top and freeze it. That makes a nice big ice cube that will keep a bowl of water cool for a long time. Just put several in the freezer so you always have one or two ready.

I always give my girls fresh, cold, clean water. They've got a big huge bowl that I fill up once a day and by the end of the day almost all of it is gone.

We always fill our dogs water dishes up with cold water from the refrigerator. They are very picky also, and when you have 4 of them drinking from it, it goes pretty quick...

wow that is a really good idea. I never thought of that! I don't know if Shelby doesn't like her water because it got warm or because it's got doggy spit in it (or worse yet...a piece of dog hair) but she just won't drink it. I'll try the ice cube thing you suggested and maybe she will be able to finish a whole bowl.

Those two bumps aren't ticks by any chance are they? If so they need to be removed, and flushed down the toilet or burned. And hope if ticks that neither is a female! If ticks the dog should be checked over every millimeter of her body for more.

You have to train a dog to know commands - they don't know them automatically.

You could try soaking a little bit of dry food in hot water for a few minutes until it's mushy and then putting in down for the dog to eat. It's smellier that way.

What brand of food are you using?

I fill my dogs dishes with water and ice cubes and it is so funny it is like watching a dog bob for apples, both will stick their whole snout in and get the icecubes. They love em. Keep your dog hydrated as well as you can, and if you can keep em in a shady area if at all possible. Congrats on your new pup PS a little bit of nutrical also works to jump start their eating you can get it at a pet store or petsmart i believe. It works really well, just give your pup a little bit from the tube or on a spoon. You may need to force feed it the first time as it does have a fnky taste

If your weather is anywhere near as hot as ours you probably need to bring him inside. You really need to do that anyway so that he can learn about you and his new home and start to feel like he belongs. Dogs will mourn, and I understand that the sled dogs will sometimes go days without eating when they are thrust into a strange environment.

Right now you need to be spending LOTS of time with your new dog. Dogs don't care if you just sit next to them quietly and read a book or even take a nap. They just need that closeness.

That's so true renee. I've got our two 'small' ones next to me now. They are like little mismatched twins lol

Sounds hot and stresses. Bring her inside and let her cool off, provide water. For not eating one day that is not a concern, keep offering it she will eat when she is hungry. Just like us sometimes in the heat they don't feel much like eating. I had a shepeherd that would eat one meal every three days. No matter what we fed. We took her to the vet and he said probably that was how she was fed and she has adopted the habit. Don't fix what ain't broke, she's healthy. But that poor dog would only pee/poop in the morning never again once in 24 hours. I could never ever do that myself much less expect a dog to do it. I took her out 4 times a day once for jobies the rest were for walks because she never did anything. Creates of habit and if that is interrupted sometimes they get stresses.
