So I'm slightly hesitant to post my drawing here after seeing how great everyone else is! haha! But I figured I can always use constructive criticism! That being said, I am improving tremendously (I think) and hopefully will continue to improve in my little hobby.

:)Your off to a wonderful start! And you should never hesitate i personally enjoy seeing a person's progress even more then i do the individual pieces. Mostly it comes down to practice. YOUR first and third pieces are are your strongest. EAch piece will build on the skills you developed on the one before. I will know i am getting ready for a jump in my skill level when everything suddenly starts to seem wrong to me. I get very excited when i see that happening. GOod luck and please post more!

They're excellent..... a lot of feeling and expression. I haven't been able to master that, yet.

Great job! No reason whatsoever to be hesitant about posting those. I especially like the 3rd one. Very nice! Keep it up! :)

Aww, thanks everyone (though to be honest, I have to say that I did pick and choose which ones to post... so these are the few that I'm more proud of :rofl1:)

But thanks! My goal is to eventually be able to really make my drawings look 3D. Right now, I think that they aren't quite flat (I'm beginning to get the depth perception down, but as someone said, I have to work on the foreshortening) but they don't really look 'real' just yet!

I figure if I keep it up, maybe they will someday!

These are really awesome! You're good with detail, and the fir texturing is really bang-on. :D

Some constructive crit, since you asked: You mentioned you'd like to work on depth. I think that the best way to go about it, with your art, is to add more contrast with shadow and light. Your first piece has some nice lighting depth happening, but it seems that the shadows are all over the place. Perhaps the lighting in your reference pic was like that, so I'm just judging on what I see.

The second piece could definitely benefit from some nice lighting effects! I notice you work minimally with colour. Using various colours for shading can add gorgeous depth and vibrance to a piece. Contrast is especially important in grayscale, remember. You've nailed the contrast on the hound drawing, IMO. The dachshund could benefit from some more, but you're on the right track.

I can hunt down some tutorial/suggestive links for you later, if you like. I'm on my way out right now. :)

Your art is awesome! Keep practicing!

You did an excellent job and have nothing to be hesitant about. I think the eyes are one of the most difficult to draw and you captured them beautifully. Well done!!
