my 4 month old boxer cross rhodesian ridgeback has one problem. when hes at home he only does about 4 poohs a day all hard, but as soon as i go on a walk he goes about 1/2 times, i know people thing that is good but when he goes out side it is soft(sometimes like diarhoa) and is hard to pick up.

i dont know if he is marking his spot or get to excitted whrn he goes outside.

i know he dont need to go to pooh he just does it.

is there any way of training not to do it????

Sounds like he is either excited or nervous when he goes out and both of those can bring on the soft serve. Any type of physical activity can really get stuff moving and if you add some nerves on top of that then you usually get a little bit of runny pooh! It's a pain. I wish I had some good advice for you. Maybe someone else will :confused:

And just how do you KNOW he doesn't have to "go"? Usually if there ain't nuttin' there, then the dog won't "go". If could be the dog needs some digestive enzymes. They can be purchased at any health food store, or from any vitamin company on the internet. As long as the dog is outside, going potty is perfectly fine. That is the whole point of a "walk"! You don't mention what your feed, or when you feed in relation to the time of walking, either. That would be helpful.
