Ok, I just noticed Mack has worms. I've been seperating the other dogs from him and I've been cleaning like crazy. What else can I do to protect my other dogs. He has a vet's appointment this afternoon. Why did Mack get them and not my other dogs, or should they all get treated for worms? How could he have gotten worms in the first place? After recieving treatment how long should I keep him seperated from the others? Do I even need to seperate him at all?

What kind ??? Aren't they on heart worm meds ???? Most take care of all worms except tape worms....which are caused by fleas......I'd get stool samples od each dog and take to vet ASAP>

Do they look like spagetti or like rice/ small segments that wiggle when it 1st comes out then disappear?
It could be that he ate infected poop or fleas, etc. It depends on the worm.
Since there is more than one type of worm there is more than one type of worming med. The most common usually is drontal (works on several types of worms) it does not work on the rice/segmented worms. they are tapeworms and need either an injection or pill.
I would have all 3 checked (atleast a fecal). The tapeworm especially you can see it whe it 1st comes out but then you can't see it or only see what looks like rice.
Wash everything just in case (atleast until you find out which type it is). I'd have to wash it no matter what. I've had to deal w/ them b4 but no matter what they give me the willies. One of my least fav things and since we foster froma shelter.... just so much fun... NOT.
Let us know what happens!

it looks more like spaghetti. They took him in back gave him medicine and told us to bring him back in three weeks. The other two were fine though so I guess that's good news.
