Okay, I decided to get a beagle and will pick him up (puppy) this Sunday.. He has 3 other littermates that are available and the breeder agreed to let two go at a discounted price.
Are beagles actually easier to raise when you have 2 of them rather than 1? I've heard that but all I can think of is the fact that it will be twice the money for almost everything...

Don't take 2!

Beagles are already a bit hard to train, or so I hear, so you don't want to deal with two... If you want another one later, sure, but I really don't think it's a good idea to get two, unless you have lots of experience in dog training.

^Ditto don't get two. But beagles aren't that hard to trainat all. They are VERY food driven. They'll do anything for food. And they catch on fairly easily;)

my husband and I are breeders of champion field beagles now let me say that I completely agree with every one to not take two pups now it will be alot of work and if you are a first time dog owner than it will be a big headache plus if you are worried now about double the bills that should tell you that you just can't afford two right now anyways
Beagles they are great breed they are always happy (or so they seem) and always wagging their tails they are great dogs and can excel at many things they are great at obedience and even agility or just great has a house companion they train easliy and are very food motivated ecspecially if it is somthing really tastey and smells good like liver or chicken but just don't forget that they are bred to hunt maybe your is not out of hunting stock but in the pedigree some where there was a hunter and it is never bred out of them they like to roam and their noses can get them into trouble they like to follow the sent they smell and soon they are alot further than they realized
hope you have alot of fun with your new wiggle butt

You know, i would worry a bit about a breeder that is willing to give two pups to the same person. It seems misinformed and mostly I would think a breeder would want the pups to go where they will have the most attention.

I would worry that the breeder would let "two go at discount price." IF Roxy is bred, they will be quality puppies and will go for no less than what they are worth. No 2 for 1 or any of that.

hm... good point, although I believe she really sympathizes with my situation (having lost my beagle last month) and the fact that she trusts me to be a great owner. She really drilled me about the breed, what I did when certain situations arose etc.. and she told me if for any reason the puppy is too much to handle, to give it back to her.
Anyways, I did call her today and tell her I would stick with one beagle.
