hi.
my pippin is one depressed dog! about two weeks our cook went home for a break and he stopped eating. we thought it would pass in a day or two but he ate hardly anything for five days! the vet then told us to give him oral saline and glucose and stuff like that which the poor baby was very upset with, syringes down his throat and all.. then there were these pills which made him hungry and now he's eating, though with none of the zest of before.. if he plays for fifteen minutes a day now we feel happy :/
what should we do! he was a thing that never rested from play and now it's heartwrenching to see him like this.
the cook even came back, but he's still the same. we're very worried because she has to leave again today.

Did the vet check him to make sure there wasn't anything organically wrong with him?

he at first suspected jaundice but pip didn't have any symptoms. his pee was a little yellow because of less water going into him but that's better now. he didn't have a temperature either.

If the cook came back and pip is still depressed, it's probably not because of the cook leaving that he was depressed in the first place. Did the vet do any tests? Has it been unusually hot or humid where you are? Sometimes my dogs don't want to play when it's really hot or humid...

he's fine now! i suppose it might have been the humidity but it's not like it's any cooler now so it is abit of a mystery.

just that after the contrast of over two weeks of limpness, he seems even more energetic than before now!! we're so relieved.

some sort of a mood swing :p
