Hi everyone,
If someone could please help me with Mason i'd greatly appreciate it. Mason is a 12 week Jack Russell/Westie mix. So he's a lively little puppy. He was in a boarding facility this past week because i had to leave and couldn't take him with me. Well i got back this sunday and picked him up first thing. Needless to say they didn't take care of him to well and i just wanted to get him home and cleaned up. Well he's been drinking water like there's no tomarrow and he was peeing like every five minutes, except they were just a few drops at a time. He's very lethargic and not moving around a playing too much. He's play with you, but no fetch or running around. He had a good appetite yesterday, actually ate quit a bit. He passed 4 stools yesterday none of which were runny.
This morning i took him on a car ride to drop off my wife. He didn't eat anything, and ended up throwing up all over me in the car. I brought him home cleaned him up and he threw up again. I gave him some water a few minutes later...he layed down ...got up and threw up again. IT was mainly food from yesterday.
Does anyone know whats wrong with mason...will this pass or should i take him to the vet Asap? I figure i'd ask and take him to the vet if he doesn't get better by tomarrow.
thanks for any help.

Vet - IMMEDIATELY! Any time a dog comes back from a kennel sick that's the first thing to do. You don't have any way of knowing how long he was sick in the kennel and they didn't attend to it! And be sure and share the name of the kennel with your vet.
Was Mason up on all his shots before you left?

Yes, take him to the vet. I hate to say that now but leaving a puppy in a kennel when they haven't got their full immunisation is really dangerous. That one seemed really bad though, I would contact the human society and warn them about that place right away too... It's such a shame.

yes please let us know. i had a dog in a kennel once, which got sick, and i ended up paying over 700 dollars for treatment :(. poor pup. please take him ASAP, as u would take your child to the doc(if u have one)....in future, maybe u can ffind out if there are any reputable kennels out there. i did the wrong thing and thought, the cheaper , the better for my wallet. no! i learned my lesson!! good luck!

You might want to see if some vets don't do it too. It might be more expensive but it's safer.

Yeah I'm much happier home with my pets anyway :D But if I have to leave them for 2 weeks, it will be at the vet.

i wouldn't leave my dog in either..it just isn't worth the risk, but i realize some people have no choice..hopefully a friend or family member will watch for you instead. My friend Kelly watched her friend's dog Boomer while they went on a trip..even took Boomer to the off leash park daily and bathed him..her friend was able to take the trip knowing that her dog was in fine hands...vet trip promptly and please tell us how all turns out..will be hoping for the best.

There are many things that he could get form the kennel, no matter if he's had all his shots or not. If he is getting sick and diarrhea take to the vet on the 1st available apt. They are major signes that he needs the vet. It could be a s simple as putting him on a bland dieat of chicken and rice but it could be more so please get him checked out. Let us know how he is doing!

hi everyone..i wanted to thank everyone for there concern.
Mason seems to be doing better. He's eating and playing well, but i did take him to the vet...like you all said better safe then sorry.
They ran a CBC, and a stool profile. I asked them to do a giardia stool test, but they said thats not needed. Other then that they didn't do anything. They said to wait for a day for the results and they'll go from there.
Mason has been doing better though, he hasn't had any more loose stool or vometing. So i'm happy, but i'll be happier when he's okay for a few more days.
thanks again everyone...i'll let you know what the vet says tomarrow.

I'm so glad you took him to the vet and so far it doesn't look like anything serious. I'm happy that he's seems to be doing better. Let us know what the vet says.

Mason is doing great...he's had solid stools the past three, although there number are still more then usual. He's playing and doing good. I'll be going to the vet soon, but i'm just glad he's feeling better.

thanks everyone for your help. The vet said that everything was withing normal limits and that most likey the kennel didn't give him his puppy food that i told them to give. He must have had a reaction to it. I'm just glad puppy is doing well and is the little guy we love. I would like to thank everyone though...even though i knew i should have taken him to the vet i just needed to hear it from people that know more about dogs then me.
