Hi!

I'm so glad to have found this great community to join and looking forward to meeting you in this friendly forum.

Although my site, http://www.alphadogtoys.com, has been on line for over four years, we've never done any formal type of advertising. We entirely relied on old fashioned word of mouth, not because of common reasons, but mainly because of my dislike of advertising and marketing.

It all began when I was in college. My major was Finance, so I took an internship with a big investment company. I felt very awkward selling, especially when I had to use the sales pitches they taught me. I felt they were neither sincere, nor helpful to customers. But I believed it was just my being new to the industry and it was part of the learning curve. So I took up another internship with a different company the next summer. And I felt exactly the same.

I avoided all sales and marketing jobs after I graduated and became an account. In the past four years after I started Alpha Dog Toys, I focused only on product improvement and customer service. I still stay away from marketing and advertising as much as possible. I've been told over and over again that ignoring or avoiding advertising is not good for the business. I'd love to hear your input and opinion on marketing and advertising.

I'm sorry, I meant that I became an accountant.

A good start would be to fix the first link in your original post. :)

Thank you for pointing out the broken link. I looked for the "edit" button, but couldn't find it. Could a moderator help me fix it?

I'm sorry about the first link in the original post. I tried to fix it, but it seems that I've passed the time limit to edit, according to the forum. Do any of you know what the time limit is?

Alpha Dog Toys (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/) started out with just dog toys (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/) and branched out to dog treats (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/dog_treats.html), dog collars (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/dog_collar_leash_harness.html), dog clothing and accessories (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/dog_clothing_accessories.html), dog beds (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/dog_beds_mats_blankets.html), dog travel supply (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/pet_outdoor_travel_gear.html), gifts for dog lovers (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/gifts_dog_pet_lovers.html)...quickly within a year. Our passion and focus has always been on dog toys (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/dog_toys.html). Even though dogs physically mature around 2 years old, mentally they stay puppies for ever. We believe dog toys (http://www.alphadogtoys.com/) help provide both dogs and their owners with a happy, active and healthy life style.
