Dry skin

So, one of my beagles has dry skin. And I can't figure out why this is the case. I feed Innova EVO RF, and also add a few squirts of salmon oil to each serving. I also feed raw frozen chicken and beef. I only bathe him with all-natural, no fragrance products -- currently using a shea butter-based shampoo.

Any suggestions on what I can do? Thanks.

Try a shampoo that has oatmeal.

There are any number of reasons for dry skin. Allergies, food sensitivities, humidity, infection... any number of things could be causing it.

My dog had "dry skin", and I thought nothing of it - but everything I tried failed, so I went to the vet and lo and behold... he had a serious fungal infection! Took nearly two months to cure him, he's just now starting to look like himself again.

I'd consult a vet, just to rule out any potentially serious health problem. Then worry about at-home remedies. :)

One more suggestion, well- don't bathe him often. No matter what shampoo you use, frequent bathing removes the natural oils from the skin.
