Boy Raised by Dog Found in South Siberia

Regional authorities in the Siberian Altai region have discovered a seven-year-old boy who has been raised by a guard dog since he was three months old, the Newsru.com site reports, citing regional papers.

When authorities discovered the boy, Andrei, in the care of a guard dog three weeks ago, he did not know how to speak, and behaved much like a dog: he walks on all fours, bites, and first smells the food he is given.

will be interesting to see how the boy will be able to integrate into society and interact with people. He will probably not like people too much and feel more comfortable around animals in general.

Just shows how much a dog can really love something.

My Goodness...that seems unreal. At 3mths. old how did the boy eat? I guess if the baby boy pottied, the dog cleaned him up. What about clothes, was he naked? What about being to hot & cold in the weather? Babies & toddlers are always gettin into things and putting things in there mouth. Then theres sickness, running fever, teething etc. Was he underweight when the police found him? Did the parents live out in the country? Did they have no close family & friends near by? "WHAT A VERY SMART DOG AND A LUCKY BOY TO HAVE FINALLY BEEN FOUND". Hes still young enough I think he`ll be ok and get the help he needs. Im sure it will take a long time. You raise very cool questions MY1BOXER :). And that is exactly why I call their bluff. Story does sound magnificant .. but as you said unreal... and that is what it is. Dogs can indeed do amazing things. But for 7 years ... since 3 months old ... common guys. Oh and by the way the Russian version of the story claimed that the Motehr left the baby when he was 3 months old... and the father was a drunk and then left and never came back. Where they alegidly found teh boy WAS the coutry MY1BOXER. Siberian country.. do you have any idea what kind of winters there are in Siberia .. if anyone is reading this from Alaska.. you might have a slight clue. I was born and raised in Ukrain and winters there are no joke compared to most climats in the US. BUt Siberian winters are -40° C, I beleive thats where °C and °F meet.. so its -40° F as well. I would beleive the story if it claimed that a dog took care of a boy above 3 years old at least... for a couple of months during summer time there, but thats where i draw the line.

"He still cannot talk, and has only made friends with a girl."

Reminds me of the old joke with the punchline: "Because he can."

that is crazy but that dog must be intelligent to raise a 3 month old baby. I would love for my dog to take care of me if I was abandon by my parents.

I saw a documentary on T.V. about feral children. There have been several similar cases documented and video taped in various places in the world. It's been about a year since I saw this and my poor memory isn't very good with details. But there were children who were found raised by dogs. I don't recall where all the different cases were....some in America and some other places. Another was stuck in a closet for 13 years, only given food and water. She had absolutely no human contact other than the bringing of food and water. There were several others, one in Russia. These poor children were a mess, like a frightened, wild animal, taking on the dogs' sounds, walking on all fours and some other things.

Some of these children were able to be integrated into a normal world up to a certain point. They could not learn to speak. A specialist, some kind of speech guy and/or psychologist found that if language is not introduced at infancy or toddlerhood (I forget) the way the brain works, speech will not be possible. It never worked. There were cases that were recent and some from way back a long time ago.

What a sad situation. It does sound like the National Enquirer, but unfortunately, it is real.
