Just got back from Kaylee's, my new puppy, first vet appointment. It all went really well! It was with a new vet, well I've taken my ferrets there but none of the dogs. They also don't have pet foods lining the walls and from everything I've heard, they don't push foods like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Purina etc.
We've had a lot of trouble finding a good vet lately and have been to so many different ones in the last few years. But the Dr. we saw today was wonderful. I talked to him about feeding Kaylee raw and while he wasn't all for it, he wasn't horrified. He said that he's in the middle about raw diets, and that he doesn't know enough or have enough experience to go either way. He said it's very controversial subject and people feel really strongly either way (that's putting it mildly).
He mainly said though that as long as I did my research and know what I'm ,to go for it. He also wants me to keep him updated on how it goes because he's never had a patient that feeds all raw.
So all in all he was supportive while a little hesitant and seems like he's really willing to learn about it and work with me, I was so very happy!
Kaylee is in great health, no worms or parasites and everything looks good. She weighs 34 pounds so we're guessing around 60 pounds for her final weight, no big at all.
She was also very good while she was there, she freezes when she gets nervous so she just plopped down on the table and didn't move at all...silly puppy.
She and my other female, Hannah, are both going in and getting spayed next Tuesday, wish me luck!
But I just wanted to share my good news and excitement over finding a good vet that is willing to learn!
