You will all be inundated with pictures! Good luck to me with the patience thing though, i've been waiting for this pup for three months!

It is so exciting! I havn't had a puppy for about, hmm, five **** years! That's just too many to go without a puppy. Plus I'm looking forward to a bit of a training challenge
(someone at my club rather crassly informed me that collies are "dumb as dirt")
Boy will i show her. If i can get the chihuahua's to heel outside I'm pretty sure i can get my collie working nicely.

Don't think it's the Collies that are dumb as dirt . . .
Now, we'll be waiting on those photos!

Collies are actually very smart... that was terrible to degrade the whole collie breed...
I used to watch Lassie all the time--it was my favorite show but it was old and I never really saw it anymore... I guess it was cancelled.
Make sure you take lottsa puppy pictures! :)

Lol, Thanks for supporting the collies, i was quite angry with her when she said that (seeing as she KNEW i was getting a Collie puppy) but i'll show her hey.
I'm actually getting a boy (only two days now and im going crazy!).
I'm calling him Azlan, after the lion out of the lion the witch and the wardrobe by C.S Lewis, because i think collies are pretty liony in appearance.

I love those books! I think that is a great name for a Collie too. Boys do have the better coats though, theirs are more fuller than a female.

I've read that book!
I haven't read the whole series but I've read that one and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
C.S. Lewis is a great author. :)

collies are very beautiful dogs, my dad had one when he was younger and said it was the best dog that he ever had. She was REALLY smart. One day she had ran off, and when she came home my grandpa was really mad and he told her to sit, and had basically forgotten about her. Well when he came down to the kitchen the next morning she was still sitting in the same spot she had been told to sit in she hadn't moved an inch.

We had a Collie when I was a toddler. It was abused before and my parents took it off the street and patiently gained it's trust. It was a real sweet dog and very smart!

Ok i've got Azlan. When i went to pick him up he seemed fine, and i sat down with the breeder and discussed alot of things, like his vaccinations and what not. Now that i have him home i have discovered he has a swollen stomach and sleeps way too much for a pup his age. I am very worried and am taking him to the vet tomorrow and contacting the breeder. He seems so lethargic and he had really runny poos.
It's such a dissapointment, but i'm sure he'll come good. Hope and pray.

I wouldn't worry too much. Are you using the same food as the breeder? That might explain the runny poop, or if you started giving him treats etc. Tips was a bit lethargic the first two days too, Boris scared of everything, I think it just takes them a bit to get used to their new home.
Keep us posted... Any pic?

He might have some sort of worms, or something. My puppy had worms when we got her but they gave her some medicine and it cleared right up. He might just still be adjusting to your home. It sometimes take a puppy a few days to get used to their new home and this may just be how he's reacting to the change.

I hope everything is okay with Azlan. Please keep us updated.

All is better guys! Azlan pooped a ridiculous amount, then settled down and slept for ages. When he woke up he was all normal-playful-pup.I'm so happy. I geuss i was just being paranoid as i had planned for him for so long. Anyway, i don't have any pics at the moment but i will try and get one.

Has he just recently eaten? My puppy, if she hadn't eaten in awhile, would get really lathargic. Once she got a little older she got better, though. She only eats once a day now and she's fine and is gaining weight.

Oh good! Whew! I'm glad he's ok. When I was reading that, I thought...oh no....
Congrats on the new pup...can't wait for pictures! Hurry up. LOL....just teasing. Anyhow, this is all very exciting and I know how thrilled you must be.

Well, the breeder and I discussed Azlan'z mystery illness and decided he probably ate something wrong when he was out "farming". He seems absolutely fine now and is just being the cute ball of fluff that he is. He is different to any other puppy I've had, maybe because he is a purebred?
All of my other pups were mixes or of debatable kelpie parentage (sorry May).
I've noticed that he isn't as quick on his feet as my old kelpie pups (but what is quicker than a kelpie?)
I've taught him sit and down, though we are still on a lure for the down. With him you really don't notice how fast he learns. He always has this vacant super model look in his eyes, but he already remembers sit for greeting and sit to a hand signal. I must say he is quite the little weirdo.

Well i've taken alot of video footage of him, but i can't get it on the computer! I've got a pic of a pup that looks just like him, but i've got to go learn how to put pics up!
