Maggie is the poster dog for Cocker Spaniel health issues caused by puppymill byb. She has horrible ear problems, eye problems, and very very bad skin issues. For the longest time we have struggled to find the right dog shampoo to use for her. Because every time we turned around she was having an allergic reaction. Or even with medicated shampoos sometimes they just never improved anything.

So one day I was talking to a neighbor who has a 17 year old Newfie/Border Collie named Harley. And yes no kidding that dog is 17. Anyways Harley has always had skin issues but his owner found a way to get it under control. Home remedies. So here is how I got rid of Maggie Mays skin problems :).

First I fill the top with very warm or hot water. I then fill two socks full of oatmeal and tie them up. I then place the socks in the hot water and work them in my hands expressing a white think fluid until the tub looks full of milky water. Then I flop a less than thrilled Maggie into the top to where she is neck deep. Then I grab the mushy socks and squeeze them and let the thick liquid on to her head and back and scrub it in. She also realizes it tastes pretty good too. Then I get out the special shampoo concoction my neighbor makes and sells me. Im not sure what is all in it but he makes it in his kitchen. It has no odor and is edible lol. Anyways I then scrub her down with that. Then drain the tub and take the showerhead and spray her down till its all out of her fur.

I have been doing this for her once every other month since summer....She has not dried out or had an allergic reaction since we have started this :). One less thing to bother my girl.

Cool that that works! The oatmeal thing might have to be tried here, seems like a good idea.

Fabulous! I bet Maggie is pretty happy to not be itching anymore too!

She really is much happier and looks so much better. Now she just needs a haircut and she will look really good.
