She's swallowing a lot, and harder than usual. When I open up her mouth it almost looks like her throat is constricted?

She is playing, breathing, eating and drinking normally and I don't see any blockages. What can this be a sign of? Do you know of anything serious that frequent swallowing is a symptom of? She seems fine but this just seems weird to me. She's done it once before too but I never paid much attention to it since it went away.

Any input on what this could be would be greatly appreciated.

I'm asking I would really like to avoid taking her to the vet today if it's not serious (it doesn't seem to be, she's acting 100% normal aside from the swallowing) because I don't have ANY money left and the e-vet would put me in major debt... But if it gets worse or if it's a sign of something really bad I'll have to take her in.

WHY THE HELL do dogs always pick the worst times to act abnormally? :(

Sore throat? Could she have eaten something that would have irritated or hurt it? I swallow a lot when mine is sore, it's involuntary.

I hope its nothing serious... ((hugs))

Does it seem to be difficult for her to swallow, or is it just more frequent...

or both ??

It doesn't seem really difficult for her to swallow. She drinks just fine. I noticed she chewed up her kibble a little more than usual.

She might've eaten something that irritated her throat, I'm just not sure what it could've been. Lately with all the people going in and out of the house, she's been confined or leashed an awful lot so she's spent a lot of time under my supervision, and when not supervised she's been in her crate. I've felt all around her throat and it doesn't feel like there's any swelling or something stuck, but that's exactly what I keep thinking it is by watching her.

I thought it could also have been an allergic reaction to something but she's had nothing out of the ordinary lately.

Ack, I hope she's okay. Did she just have a raw meal? Could it be that maybe a bone scratched her and made the thoat sore?

She didn't have any bone in her recent meals (she's just been getting kibble, whole eggs and muscle/organ meat for the most part through the holidays) but she did chew on a rawhide and got a new rubber toy. I wonder if there was any allergy issue with the rubber or if the rawhide got stuck in her throat? I removed both. She seems fine today, no sign at all of ths issue but I'm going to call the vet anyway and make an appt.

Sorry to hear about Eve! :( Are you able to look into her throat to see if it's red or otherwise atypical?
