Okay, so I have a female shih tzu that is 3 1/2 years old and she has not been spayed. My dog is rather aggressive, and it's one of the things I need to work on with her. I know that it won't completely go away if I get her fixed, but I have heard that some female dogs are less aggressive once spayed. Will this happen even though she is past her puppy stage and is an adult? Or is she stuck with being slightly unpredictable, snappy and possessive? Whether or not there is a chance of her behavior changing, don't worry, I'm still getting her a long overdue fixing.;)

It is possible that spaying could alter the amount of hormones present and it might cause a behavorial modification. But I wouldn't count on it.
A lot of people get their dog spayed/neutered thinking it will be a cure all (not accusing you of this, just saying) and it doesn't work out all of the time.

Okay, thanks for the input. I did some digging around the site and found the 'should i neuter my dog' thread(or whatever it's called) in the breeding section of the site. Some of those responses were saying that too. Well, when we get her done, I'll be sure not to expect much difference. I'll see what I can do to help her in some other way.
