Well, Zoey and I were training today, on our weaves, first time in about 2 weeks, cause I've been slacking due to the cold weather.

Anyway. I've been training v-weaves, and we've been doing good, probably 2 or 3 inches from the tops of the poles. Really good for the small amount of training we had been doing.. Today, I got cocky, and put them not even an inch apart, Im talking, ALMOST weaving, like just a little - tiny - SMALL slant, and Zoey did them ----- PERFECT!

I am so proud of my baby because not only did she do them once, SHE DID THEM A LOT - Like 10 + times!

I am so happy, I have been so upset about agility latily, as I am always during the winter (I HATE the cold!).... And her doing them like that gave me such a boost! I REALLY KNOW we can trial in the spring now, it's just a matter of TRAINING! :)!!

Sorry, I just had to tell someone! :)

Only bad thing about this all is that it was the only time I DIDN'T tape it, because I figured she'd just blow it, and I didn't want to take a break for frea that she'd stop....

GAH! IM SO HAPPY!

Ok, I'm done now! :)

very cool!!

i find that sometimes taking a break for a couple weeks actually improves things. i have no explanation, but i have seen it before, where a dog came back to an exercise after not doing it for a couple weeks and all of a sudden was able to perform perfectly.

and i also hate training in the cold.

Yeah, it's weird. I almost think for some dogs it's like "Oh no, mommy is mad cause I didn't do it right, I better sit here and figure out how to do it."

And my trainer always said "Don't worry, one day you'll be training, and - WOOSH - all of a sudden your dog can do it - PERFECT!".

I'm just so happy, and to make things ever better, I'm training weaves inside now! LOL, I JUST have enough space to pratice weaves inside.

maybe something is in the air. Last weekend at a funmatch, dekka was hitting the weaves at speed (normal she would skip poles if I didn't do a bit of a false reverse flow pivot) on side, and off side like a pro :D. And we haven't been doing any training for months.

yay dont you love it when things get better.
(and it is known phenomenon with learning, it takes time to process learning)

Thanks! :) I am so happy, you really have no idea, I just want to run down the streets yelling "ZOEY IS AMLOST WEAVING - LIKE REALLY WEAVING!" But of course, they'd all think I am crazy because few know what weaving really is! :p

gaaah, so happy with my girl! Now if only Morrie would do that so Amanda would get back into Agility!

It does! I got some pics of how the weaves are set up... I have to move the middle poles about an inch apart, but thats still so good! :) Pics in a min, just of the poles, not of Zoey doing it

Okay, just one of Zozo... Being cute!

Then the weave poles - I had the middle pulled out because she was popping them there but not her entries (I was pretty close to her side to stop her from popping them)(My sisters cat Nico, wondering wtf they were)

Again. (Nico went in for a closer look)

And to show how far the middle was apart... But we're working on getting that straight aswell... But this is okay for me.(they were probably about.... 2 oe 3 inches apart? Maybe)

Yeah, Im doing an everyday thing now.... Weaves only, 5 days a week, and everything 2 days a week. But there may be one day out of those five weave days that we don't weave..

We haven't trained yet today, Im nervous to see how she does.

Good luck and don't stress. Weaves as we all know are the hardest to train and proof by far. Of all the obstacles they do require the most dedication in training. It sounds like you have a good start, good show!!!
lol this past weekend, we would have Q'd in our standard run, except I messed up sending my dog to the weaves and got him TOO high........results......he ran right past them (which btw is a pattern and should be avoided at all costs, because those kinds of patterns do come back to bite you in the butt when it counts).

:) I am still so happy with how well she is doing! :) Im trying not to stress.

Buster still isn't 100% on them, I used to channel method andhe can do them perfectly when they are just the slightest bit out of line but I used my hands, without touvhing him, to direct him through them sort of.

I stopped practicing a while ago for a couple of week, he was getting sick of doing it every day lol, I don't think he actually like agility that much i just make him do it lol.

Still, I was practicing weaves every day for like 3 or 4 months before he did it, very happy when he did :D

Good luck today

I've actually been shocked at how well Marlowe is picking the weaves up. We've got a long way to go, no doubt, but we're on the 12 pole weave-o-matic and he can run them all by himself if I set them at about 3 inches out, and we really have not practiced all that much. I can move the center poles in to about 2 inches and we're making good progress. Starting agility I was so intimidated by the weaves, thinking my dog is never going to be able to do that! But lo and behold, it looks like he is indeed!

Yeah, I am doing the weave-o-matic/v-weaves method, and it's working REALLY well! I was the same way when I started, but now that Zoey seems to be getting them on one side (We can't do them on Off-side - YET) it's really helping me to think OH YEAH WE CAN DO IT!

Good luck to you, and I hope you two are weaving in no time!

We're in the no weaving club still. Last time at practiced I had them tight like yours are.. maybe not as tight.. and Kiba did them perfect! I had built myself a set where they just stand straight up, but Kiba gets the slanted ones so much better.

When is a good time to send Kiba over? LOL. Stryder, on the other hand... doesnt like going thru them.. but is getting over it. We'll be stuck in CPE for awhile with him. Hehehe.

Keep up the good work!
