View Full Version : Question about the censor
I would like to ask if the B word used to name a female dog can be removed from the censor list. This is after all a dog forum, and that term is a valid term in the dog community.
My apologies if this subject has been brought up before. I tried to do a search ;)

It hasn't been brought up. It's kind of odd, but it may be that it's just included in a pre-programmed list. It's a few more keystrokes to type female, but not that much of an inconvenience really. :)
I didnt mean to imply it was an inconvenience. Just that I thought that the word ***** is appropriate to these forums. And that is seams odd to read posts about breeding peppered with *******
Not a compliant, just a suggestion

It just helps keeping common day cuss words off a forum... No problem in spelling it b*tch or something such as that.

Would you please, then, find a way to stop the F word from movies and teenagers' lips !! That offends me so !!! Lord, I only started using it 30 yrs. ago in private situations at the age of 40 ........hmmmmmmmmmmm wonder who I picked it up from.
Being a message board and all, its hard to judge the expressions behind the typing, so dont anyone take offense. I am too new to know if any of these responses are official answers or just people helping me come up with creative ways to abbreviate a word that would seam to have a place in these here forums. To be honest the older I get the less tolerance I seam to have for being politically correct. This is a forum about dogs and it seams silly to block the word *****.
So If one of you fine people are an admin , I'll take that for an official answer and drop it.
sorry to be pest, 10 posts and already making waves........ :(

It is my fault.
I added it to the filter because some people when the forum first started was using that word to decribe each other instead of a dog. It can get sorta heated on the forum sometimes. I will give some thought to removing it from the filter now that the forum has grown.

If you do remove the filter, we'll bite anyone who uses it in any other way than refering to a female dog.!

I think it is certainly appropriate to this forum. I am a moderator on 2 dog sites and neither of them censors that word. however as a moderator we KNOW our job is to jump down the throat of anyone who uses the word out of context, and maybe not here, but on those sites moderators can edit out the word if it IS used out of context. and we haveenough moderators who are trusted and responsible that it always gets noticed just a minute or 2 after it is posted, any time of day/night. I think even the kids are mature enough to not use it out of context.
just a test, can we say these words which are appropriate in dog discussion?, penis, vulva, sperm, anus, testicle, scrotum, nipple, teat, ovary? if so then b!tch has no reason to be censored.

How many posts a day does those two dog forums get? Chazhound gets over 1000 some days and we just don't have time to read every word. Filters help a ton.

not attacking the forum, or the filters. on average, one gets about 500-1000. the other gets about 800 a day. there are 4 administrators and a ton of moderators, from different time zones world wide. so theres almost always atleast 5-6 moderators. right now the one with more responses/posts is having technical difficulties and hasnt been accesible for about a week though. re-designing they said.
