After 5 long weeks of good food and hard work, my little girl is revving up for an AADR show this weekend. She's not registered, so it's all for fun.

Great muscle tone on her! Good luck with your fun match!

She looks good, but why is she so thin?
Maybe it was mentioned before or it's just the pictures or something, idk.

She is very lean, as a healthy dog should be. She is in the best shape of her life, and that is saying a lot, for she was a complete mess when I came upon her.
Ribs will be visible on a pit bull-type dog who is at a good weight. Looking at the dog's overall condition (i.e., muscle tone, coat condition, etc.) will tell you all you need to know. A [i]sharp[/b] intake behind the ribs (Indicating that there is no food in the stomach) and protruding hip bones are things to look for when determining if a dog is underweight. Lack of muscle tone is also an indicator.
Think of the pit bull dog as a marathon runner as opposed to a linebacker; Lean, strong, and capable of going for miles on end :)

now that i look at the picture, i think it's just cause of her short fur and her stretching that her ribs look so visible. She's gorgeous either way.

No... pits are linebackers :P Endurance and strength.
Most of your linebackers are well under 10% body fat. A few, well, need some more work of course! To really equate to the marathon runner, you need to be looking at low muscle, low fat breeds (look at the marathoner's upper body!) like Pointers and Dalmatians.

She is looking quite nice. Good luck at the show. I'd like to try AADR sometime, but there isn't much of that down here.

I agree with you.
And the pits like any the other breeds of dogs that where used for fight when they where created are heavy and bulky.
They needed a muscular dog that could resist a long fight, and not a tin dog that only run fast across the pit ;)

Sadie's just . . . . WOW!
Now, to settle the linebacker/marathoner debate.
Neither. She looks like a peak-condition middle-weight fighter. ;)

She looks GREAT!!!! :)
Good luck at the show. Dante isn't registered either so maybe you can direct me to a few shows we can participate in. He's got a long way to go for conditioning, though- but he is looking much better. Amazing what 30 minutes of Kong toss/run in circles for an hour playing keep away every day or other day does. :)
