time dog stops chewing

When is the approximate time a puppy/dog stops chewing on every single thing, every single minute? Or, when he stops teething?

All dogs chew throughout their lives, but they usually get out of the "puppy chewing phase" by the time they are 7 months. I know what you are going through!! I have a 12 week old puppy at home who thinks he needs to chew everything...even me :eek:

My pup turned 7 months but still chews on some things so I have bitter apple spray on hand still.

It'll depend on the dog and what it has to do. Keep your dog entertained at all times. My dog is a little over a year and he never chewed on 1 thing b/c I had a million bones around the house. The best for a puppy was the Nylabones. He chewed on them for hours at a time. Also, there is a bone called a "bully stick" that dissolves as they chew it. The key for a dog is to make it so they cant have stuff break off and they choke.

Also, put toys around that he'll play with instead of chewing. Leave about 5-10 bones around the house and he can then pick and choose which ones he wants at which time. Yes it's spoiling him, but saving your furniture.

I have a nylabone for my pup, but he hardly ever chews it. Maybe for a few minutes then he moves onto a rawhide bone for [sometimes] almost half an hour. Then when all else fails to entertain him, he'll come to me and 'play' with me.
I do try to entertain him, but his idea of entertainment is bite/chase the moving thing! He also likes to drag dirt off of plant pots now.. which is becoming a nuisance.

Rawhydes are BAD! They are not digestable and your puppy could choke on the pieces. Chopped rawhyde bones aren't as bad.
Chyna isn't crazy about the nylabones either but is nuts over the bullysticks (do you happen to know exactly what a bullystick is? Yes...it's a bulls' weinie) (how gross is that?!)
Nutritionists....are bullysticks bad for dogs/puppies? Hoping the answer is no because they keep her nice and occupied. She is a chewer too...know what you all are going through. She also behaves much like an only child...she will come up to me with a stuffie (toy) and shove it in my face. If she is on the couch with me and I am trying to do something, she will force her way under my arm to get me to play tug with her. The bullystick is the only thing that will keep her busy...otherwise she demands someone to play with! :D
And yes, she chews on us too....so we have taught her that when she sits with us on the furniture, she has to "go get a toy" before she can come up. Sometimes she does it before we tell her to. It's so cute watching her pick out a toy from her "toy box". (whadda ya mean she's spoiled?!) :D

Again, frozen, raw bones are excellent for hours of entertainment. They are also nutritous and good for the teeth! And not nearly as expensive as manufactured bones.

I agree, I give my dogs frozen raw bones, turkey and chicken necks for treats daily. For my dogs I have 5 adult dogs all over 3 years of age, my biggest chewer who can and will out chew any puppy out there is my Rottie :) I always keep her mouth occupied :D

A really good idea for puppies going through teething is offer them frozen raw bones as the cold helps soothe their mouth.

I don't know if anyone else has ever done this, but with my first dog I ever had, she'd start chewing on something... say an old rag. Well, I thought it would be okay for her to chew on that. Little did I know she didn't know the difference between an old one and a new one. Or say an old sock and a new sock, what have you. But I learned, so just make sure you don't let your pup chew on anything that you don't want her to be chewing on, regardless of age.
