I know :yikes: I have to move their feedings to every three hours instead of every two because they are so big! It's really hard because Alice has SO MUCH milk and they have typical pug appetites even as newborns so they gorge themselves if I don't intervene ;)

ok this is probably a stupid question but are their tails curled when they are born or do they need to be docked? Or if their not curled when they are born when do they curl? It looks like they have straight little tails now.

ok this is probably a stupid question but are their tails curled when they are born or do they need to be docked? Or if their not curled when they are born when do they curl? It looks like they have straight little tails now.

Not a stupid question at all. Pug tails are natural, no docking and they start to do a loose curl around 6 weeks. At about 4-5 months you'll know for sure what type of curl you have (double, single, loose, tight etc.):)

Alice took about 3 days to bounce back from her c-section and now she's full force Alice again...demanding and hard to put up with, lol;)

Explain .... why are you regulating the feedings ?? Isn't Alice wanting to stay with them full time for demand feeding ?? Can't she come and go at will .?? Sorry , but in that one picture it seems she's just tolerating them nursing . Don't get me wrong ...please !!!! I don't know small breeds as to whelping and nurturing . I've never seen an over weight pup until the breeder took over . Educate me .

Grammy, technically these puppies are not overweight according to my vet. They have doubled their birth weight on the 8th day which I guess is expected of all puppies. They were just born very large for pugs and Alice has a ton of milk so I can gap the feedings because we don't want them to continue to pack it on and become too fat.

I am regulating the feedings because I have to. Doing so really isn't all that unusual at all at least from the breeders I know. Alice does not clean them without my assistance and has not been attentive until recently. She is getting more maternal and better everyday so they will be in with her full time around when their eyes open and she'll be able to feed on demand.

I think for a c-section dam she is doing very well and acting exactly as I expected. She's a sweet Momma and trying hard.

Anyway, I stepped in per my vet's instructions and because I don't want dead, starved or trampled puppies! And may I add that they are not unhealthy. These puppies have been thriving since birth!
