Recently my bf and I have gotten into playing frisbee golf. We bring Joey with us because he's really good about not running to far from us (he drags a long leash that we pick up whenever we need to). We were practicing our throws and we would go out to pick up our frisbees and bring them back. Joey started racing us to the fallen frisbees which was kind of helpful if we couldn't really see them in the grass. Could I teach him to do that on command? Go out and maybe stand on a frisbee until we get there to pick it up? How would I go about doing that?

I'm sure you could!

The first thing I would do is teach Joey to 'target' the frisbee. Lay the frisbee on the ground and if he shows interest or touches the frisbee, mark it. Eventually you can get to the point where he is targeting the frisbee by standing on it, then you can work on elongating the time that he stays on the frisbee by building up the time before you reward.

That's how I'd do it, I'm sure there will be somebody else along to help you with a quicker/easier way though ;) :D

^Agreed. Should be relatively easy.

Thanks PWCorgi! I do have a question though. Should I tap the frisbee to get him interested in it or just wait for him to touch it himself? Also, should I say a verbal command, like "frisbee" when he touches it and them give him a treat?

I'd probably wait for him to show interest himself, I like to let dogs figure things out for themselves as much as possible. From your first post it seems as though he's already interested in them, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Do you do any clicker training? If so I'd mark it with the clicker to start.
If not, I'd mark it with a YES! to start with. So it's be YES! then treat, by marking it you'll be able to let him know the very instant that he's done something good, not 3 seconds later when he actually gets the treat. Eventually when he knows exactly what you want I'd start adding a verbal cue. :)
