There always has and will always be an argument over which collar works “better” in all situations, however my opinion differs. People are looking for that one collar fixes all, when in reality ***It does not exist*** and just so it is apparent, let me repeat that ***It does not exist***
Simple fact is, dogs, their temperaments, their personalities, and their reactions vary widely. So, it is only befitting that their collars must vary widely also. What works for one may not work for another.
Having worked with a large variety of dogs, training, and collars this fact truly comes to life. What may work in a basic obedience class for FrooFroo the lap dog, may not work for bite work in trials for Chopper the Schutzhund dog.
Finding the proper collar for your dog, given your unique circumstances and the dog is the key. Find out what each collar does, how it works, and how to use it PROPERLY before you chose which you are going to use. And much for the same reason you wouldn’t light a cigarette with a blowtorch, is much the same reason why you wouldn’t use an e-collar on a well responding Chihuahua in a basic obedience workshop.
People always want that quick, overnight, instant fix answer to all. And I hate to burst your dreamy bubble, but you will never find it. So rather than wasting your time chasing a fantasy, why don’t we learn something?
Learn about your dog, learn about the collars, learn about the training, roll up your sleeves, and accept the fact that if you want a well trained and behaved dog you actually have to put some effort and knowledge into it.
