This should be general common sense and courtesy and something learned in kindergarten, but apparently not.

If you have nothing nice to say or constructive to add, then do not post in a thread.

This goes for every single member on this board.

Thank you.

Must say I dont post here very often but if all Im allowed to say is well done on breeding your doodles or ow you're poor puppy should be at a vets but its really cute anyway - cant see the point of posting anything!

I agree that there is no need for rudeness or harshness and that politeness and pleasantness get your heard more but if people are not allowed an critical opinion what is the point?

I think it could be a very busy few days for the mods if every slightly critical response is to be reported and a lot of members will be lost.

Thanks. I think that was needed. And criticism is ok . . . it just should be CONSTRUCTIVE criticism

I don't think Zoom wasn't referring to critical responses. It's one thing to say, "I don't think you should be breeding doodles. It's considered irresponsible because of XXXXX." That's a constructive, informative post.

It's another thing to spout off something like, "You idiot! Did your parents drop you on your head at birth??"

While I see the need for the rule (especially in some recent threads), it makes me sad that Chaz has gotten to the point where such a rule is actually required

It is sad, but I think its understandable. As someone who joined fairly recently, the frustration on these boards is palitable. The same ignorant ideas pop up again and again . . . and people get tired of calmly explaining why they are BAD ideas. Especially when the response is hostile or insulting. Fortunatley, there are some very knowledgable people with saintly patience on these boards.

That doesn't negate the need for the rule though. If they are hostile at constructive criticism, then throwing insults will only make sure they don't learn anything. And sometimes it makes the rest of us feel awkward, especially when the poster is honestly ignorant and not a troll.

Gempress, that's exactly what I was going for. I didn't think I needed to post examples of a "good response vs. bad response", but I guess so.

Constructive criticism is always welcomed; this is supposed to be a fun yet educational board. However, lately I've been seeing less and less of the "constructive" type of responses and more and more of the "anyone who eats bananas is a complete idiot" sort.

Chazhound is an open forum.
The only real rules are to not spam and not call anyone names.
We welcome any opinion even if we don't agree with it, but will draw the line if you take it personal. Debate and argue the issue at topic, not the person.

98% of my posts are meaningless though!
