Hi all!

Alot of you may know me from another forum- this place was recommended to me by one of the members there.

For everyone else, Hi! I'm Brittany, and I've got six friggin' dogs. Me and my husband live on a small 7-8 acre farm in central Georgia. In addition to the dogs I've got:

2 Horses (a 12 y/o Quarter Horse gelding and a 3 m/o QH/Paint cross colt)
20 Chickens (I raise Heritage breed chickens. Mostly Phoenix, Welsummers, Wyandottes, and Araucanas right now, but I've also got some plain ol' Rhode Island Reds.)
2 Ferrets
7 Rabbits (the beginnings of my meat rabbit herd)
3 Goats (A Boer/Spanish cross Buck, a Spanish Doe, and a Pygmy mix Doe. I'd like to raise registered Nubians and Pygmies for pets, meat, and milk eventually, but I'm new to goats so my current ones are sort of my "practice" goats...for me to learn the ropes of goat breeding/keeping before really jumping into things and buying registered stock.)
5 Rats (I bred and raised show quality pet rats for 6 years, along with doing rat rescue. Now I just have my current 5 as my own personal pets.)

And of course, the dogs.

First, there's Axl. He's and English/American Bulldog mix who I've had for going on 6 years. He's anywhere from 8-12 years old- we're really not sure, I got him as an adult rescue. He's a crochety old man now, but he is and always will be the best dog ever. He's my heart dog and I love him. (See picture below)

Then, there's Culley. He's an APBT, and also a rescue. I adopted him in June, and he's probably about 1 1/2 years old. I love love love pitties and have always wanted one. Even though I have several other breeds, I definitely consider myself a pittie person. (See picture below)

Next is Sgt. Butter. He's a 10 month old Pit/Hound mix. I paid $50 to save him from idiots who were selling him and his brothers and sisters for fighting at a flea market. They were sick, wormy, flea ridden, malnourished, and only 4 weeks old...and their "owner" was describing to people how to crop their ears at home with scissors. I know it's frowned upon to give someone like that money...that it would just encourage them to breed more dogs...but I just absolutely had to save one of them. So, I did. Butter is a big lovable goober with the loudest houndy yodel imaginable. His tail is a force of destruction, and he is possibly the most graceless dog I have ever met. We love him anyway.

Next, Pepito. He's a 4 year old Chihuahua. My parents gave him to me as a Christmas present when he was 8 weeks old. He came from a horrible BYB and has genetic problems that result in neurological issues that cause memory loss and aggression. We have a great holistic vet that's done wonders with him though and now that his problems are under control, he's a pretty cool guy.

Then, Ogre. Ogre is a 2 year old Akita that I adopted 11 months ago from a shelter. He's a really smart, really awesome dog, and he's absolutely gorgeous. He has a very Akita personality, and he has some selective dog aggression and prey drive out the wazoo. Ogre is definitely our most difficult dog to manage, but he has taught me ALOT about training, behavior, and dogs in general. Despite his grumpy quirkyness, he can be a pretty excellant teacher.

And finally, Chief. Chief is a 3 month old Great Pyrenees. He's not a pet- he's a Livestock Guardian; a working dog. He's being raised with my goats and trained to guard them, my chickens, and my horses from Coyotes and other critters. He's calm, polite, and overall really mature for his age...and he already patrols the fence lines and barks to warn intruders to stay away. I think he's going to turn out to be a pretty excellant dog. I don't have any recent pictures of him, but here he is when he first came home.

About me, I'm 20 years old, and married to my best friend. I'm a former art major who quit school to start a small farm and run it full time, which is what I've dreamed of doing since I was old enough to have an opinion. I still do some art commissions on occasion, but for the most part I just work with my animals and mess around in my garden. I'm also an inter-species communicator, and am into natural living and sustainable organic farming. I'm kind of a big hippy/geek, if you can't already tell.

So yep, theres my LONG introduction. This place looks awesome, can't wait to start posting!

What a coincidence, so am I. :lol-sign:

ETA: If I call you and hold the phone up to Odie's ear, will you ask him what he did with one of my slippers? :lol-sign:

Oooh how wonderful. They actually let you in over here? :lol-sign:

For the record, Odie says if you'll stop walking around the house in the nude, he'll stop stealing your slippers. A fair request, if you ask me. :o

Oooh how wonderful. They actually let you in over here?

Yet another coincidence. I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing. ;)

If you would have just said something, I could have saved you the trouble of writing out such a long introductory post. I could have copied a couple of posts of yours, from the other forum, and the good folks here would have known all about you, with much less effort on your part. The "beard and boils" one is my personal favorite. But there are so many dandies, it really is hard to pick a favorite, :)

BTW, I thought it was your "friend" who was the inter-species communicator. Let me dig up that post. :p

For the record, Odie says if you'll stop walking around the house in the nude, he'll stop stealing your slippers. A fair request, if you ask me.

Well, it is hard to blame him for that. Thanks. :lol-sign:

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

Hey, I may be guilty of posting too much information- but I can blame that on being autistic and not knowing when to shut my big fat mouth. I have zero concept of "It would be awkward to say this" or "Perhaps my post should not be 50,000 words long."

YOU, on the otherhand, have no discernable excuse for being a butthead. You're just a jerk. :p

BTW, I thought it was your "friend" who was the inter-species communicator.

We're both pretty into it. That's how we became friends, actually...we're both nuts. Birds of a feather I guess?

Well, I walk around the house nude and Shadow doesn't touch my slippers.

Howdy, there. I've been jonesing for another look at Ogre.

Hey, I may be guilty of posting too much information-

Gawd, ya think? Let me drag a few posts of yours over here so we can discuss it.

I have zero concept of "It would be awkward to say this"

Gawd, ya think? But again, let me do a little bit of work and we can discuss it.

YOU, on the otherhand, have no discernable excuse for being a butthead. You're just a jerk. :p

Thank you for noticing. :)

..we're both nuts.

Well, I don't know if that is true about your friend, but I will agree that it is definitely true about you. :lol-sign:
