Hey everyone, i've done an inhuman amount of research on this breed, but i would still like to know what you guys have to say about them. The rough collie, that is, good ol lassie.

The rough collie is my first love, but because of size constraints I chose the Shetland Sheepdog as my breed of choice. You'll never find a better dog for family and companionship. They're smart, loving, loyal, tollerant and all around good tempered. They do have some health issues, but no more than any other pure breed. Collie eye is one and they are prone to thyroid defficiencies. They cannot tollerate ivermectin based medications and Leptor distemper is a no no for this breed. The hair can be an issue but they only blow their undercoat and that happens only twice a year. They do need to be brushed at least three times a week to keep their coats clean and free of mats.

I agree shelties are great, my dad had one when i was little. They are also very smart, i think they are number five on the intelligence list. But, even though i love shelties im pretty set on a nice big collie. Thanks for the advice though!
