My Charlie is 5 months, almost 6 months--Australian Shep. He has done really well with not going to potty in the house--maybe 3 accidents total.

He stays in the kitchen when not being watched and has never gone in the kitchen while gated in --however, last night he pottied in the kitchen floor and earlier in the day he did the same in the dining room floor while I was standing right there. As he started I got him by the collar and dragged him out side where he stayed until I cleaned it up.

I just can't figure out why the change--nothing has changed, he goes outside when he ask to by barking at the door or just because I think he needs time out. I work from home and with him all day so he does get out alot.

What could cause this sudden change in his pottying habits and what do I do? Should I go back to the crate or just chalk it up as a bad day and continue on.

Thanks for any help

I'd wonder if a trip to the vet is in order first to rule out anything medical like a uti.

Generally it seems around the this age there is a small setback with most pups--I would just go back to crating and staring when they are out--with Wrigley it straightened out around 8 mo permanently.

Thanks for the replies. I hope it works itself out real soon. Charlie has an appt with vet tomorrow just to be checked out. But he always lets me know when he has to pee--just the BM in the house--strange boy.

Thanks again

Is he neutered? Of course check for medical problems, but this regression is pretty normal. He's a teenager now, testing boundries, marking territory, etc.
