No, but you know I want to eventually. :) I keep going back and forth on whether I want to try a sighthound as my next dog after I move out of the apartment. They are such amazing animals. I would love to go watch some coursing one day.

You should definitely go and watch a lure coursing event. It's beyond amazing how fast these dogs are and how incredible the endurance is, in most cases.
At one event they let an aussie run the course, he was running very well through the first turn (maybe 80yards) and after that he kept slowing down more and more. He finished the course though, which was great and a real crowd pleaser! Afterwards it gave me a real appreciation of how great of athletes these sighthounds really are.

There are many breeds that LC as well as a sight hounds. The JRTs are pretty good (but due shorter courses) We have even coursed a pug lol. There was a really game chinese crested. BCs are really good at it, very fast and follow really closely. We have even coursed some talent labs and Tollers.

I got some fun pics via email, of a Beagle I owned briefly with another breeder, now in a pet home...he was having an absolute BLAST on the lure lol! Ears a flappin....wind resistance tho..lol.

I would love to someday. Not really anywhere for it around here, plus corgis and LC don't really mix. They'd run their little hearts out, but between the ears (as HBH said, wind resistence) and the legs, it's just not gonna happen. lol

I will definitely ahve to go sometime. I will have a sighthound one day but whether or not it's the next dog in my life is up in the air.
Now I'm trying to imagine Beau coursing. I have a feeling that he'd just stand there and bark, lol. However, he's fairly decent at finding rabbits and chasing them across our yard...

LOL@ stand there & bark! Here's what he'd be saying,
"HEY HEY...LOOK...THERE IT IS...SOMEONE GO GET IT SO I CAN INSPECT IT.."

I know a couple people who do it with Borzois, Greys, Stags, Podengos, and a couple Salukis but I myself have never done it. I would love to try the boys out on it but up till now just havent had a chance to.

A sport I would absolutly love to try Meg on. I know her speed would be nowhere near the sighthounds, but her prey drive is pretty intense, and I think she would have a blast! I wish it was open to more dogs!

Here's a couple of videos I put together...
The first is my boy, running for his JC all still photos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH5_92ET2oc)
The second is pharaoh hounds actually running during trials. I left the natural sound track of the dogs barking in the video...it's my way of discouraging others from getting pharaoh hounds :lol-sign: Here it is: video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rznf7pwc0yo)
And here's a video of a friend of mine's Jumping Pharaoh hound in agility. video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkXXUlxb-d4)
Hope these work for everyone.

Bring yourself and Sequoyah down this weekend to Leesburg, I'll be coursing there. I'm trying to get him a leg or two on his SC. ;)

Take her to an all sighthound course and just tell them she's a new breed, the mini afghan. :p

I want to get our Beagle/Grey in an all breed event. She can fly if she's motivated, but so far only a LIVE rabbit has motivated her. She'd probably have to watch, or run with some other hounds to get her going.
We would love to lure course!! That will have to wait for the next sighthound though, as our borzoi puppy is in training to be a working dog and we don't want to encourage chasing. Within the year we hope to have our second borzoi, and my husband is working on finding a good scottish deerhound breeder for himself. :D I told him we should just get one of each, afghan, ibizan, borzoi, deer, grey, saluki, sloughi, etc. and have one giant sighthound pack. :lol-sign:

I've always wanted to see how well Conrad could keep pace. That boy is FAST, especially for how large and bulky he is. Marlowe doesn't ever have a prayer of being able to keep up, despite being the smaller and younger dog. We did get to see a grey playing fetch with a chuck-it at our dog park once (which just turned in to a grey running around and and around and around) and Conrad really gave it a pretty good go. All the other dogs there just flat gave up.
And I definitely have not ruled out a rescue grey for our future. I love dem houndies!
Also Ed :lol-sign: at that asshat on your youtube video saying those dogs weren't fast!
