Cost of training classes

I know this can differ but does anyone know a round about cost for training classes with a professional trainer? I have 3 trainers I am trying to get in contact with, 2 haven't called back yet and the other said they can't even give me a guesstimate with out seeing the dog first. I just want to know what I will be getting myself into and not waste my time or theirs if I can't afford it. Am I looking at $1000 or maybe a couple hundred?

Your puppy is only 8 weeks of age, if I remember correctly and is still recovering from kennel cough, so it will be awhile before you'll safely be able to take him to a class. When the time is right, you should be looking at a group kindergarten class. Prices vary dependent on your area and availability of trainers. Normally a kindergarten class is a 6 to 8 week course, anywhere from 75.00 to 125.00 for the course. Good to get your pup on the waiting list now, so when he's old enough and feeling 100%, you're assured of a spot! Good luck.

We took Wrigley at around 6 months to basic clicker obedience at our local Kennel Club and it was $90 for 8 weeks (an hour per week)

$75-125 is the norm around here, too, for a 6-8 week class.

Also, I recommend you take classes WITH the dog as well, don't go for one of those "send your dog to me" type things. Classes are great for the socialization and distraction training.

My classes run $110 for 8 weeks for a beginner class and $105 for a 6 week puppy class.

160 is normal here for a 6 week class of most things. 200 is normal in or closer to Toronto.

I charge 100 for 6 weeks. I can get great semi private lessons from 15-20 dollars.

wow, then the $800 I was quoted earlier today seems pretty high, huh? I want to be the one in on the training, I don't want to send him away. (The trainer wanted $1800 to board and train). After I got off the phone I told my coworkers "I need to become a dog trainer!"

My private lessons run $75 an hour...were they private lessons? Otherwise, yeah, that seems pretty steep for just group lessons.

The place I apprentice at is $150 for a puppy group class that runs 6 weeks, the place I work for has a beginner group class that runs 8 weeks for $198

Privates start at $75 in building, more if they are in home.

We paid 100 bucks for 8 weeks for Daisy's 1st class. Her 2nd class was free at the place I take Gunnar, but they charge $60 for 6 weeks for that class. The advanced class is 60 as well, then for 50 a month you can join the agility club which is a combo of advanced ob and fun-agility.

The working dog club I'm taking Gunnar is 125 for 6 weeks, then 30 a month after that.

Some training classes around here go for $300, $500 or so, more if you want personal in-home training. However, I have just started taking Daisy to training classes to help boost her confidence. $60 for 6 sessions, collar (martingale) and leash and training manual included. The woman and her assistant are very knowledgeable, and will work with you on your dog's individual needs. You can find good deals out there, but you just have to look around.

(of course I have to drive 40 mins away, but its worth it! ;))

Puppy class I went to was $90 for one hour per week for 6 weeks - and was a TOTAL waste of time. We dropped out after the 2nd class when the "trainer" choked Charlie until he puked.

We found an amazing trainer through our Park District in my town. I don't know if you have anything like that by you, but it might be worth a try. I've also heard that a lot of boarding places or breeders offer training, so you might want to try those also if you haven't already. Good Luck.

I live in Toronto and yeah, it's around 200 bucks (we're actually starting this evening).

The class isn't the only thing that would get dropped if someone did that to my dog, let alone someone I was paying to
teach me better methods than what I already know. I realize dog training is more art than science, but I cannot
understand or fathom how someone who does this stuff for a living cannot at least take the time to read up on the
topic at hand. Sort of like "professional" dog walkers who have not taken the time to learn basic obediance training
skills and as such ask me, the owner, how to get the dog to sit or listen to them.

My obedience classes run around $50 and $120 for group obedience lessons, consisting of between 4-7 classes. My private lessons vary greatly.
