help with dog training?

i have an english springer spaniel, he is 1 yr old.he is really good with my 1 year old son and with our new dog that is only 10 weeks.the problem is whenever i take him out for a walk i find myself being pulled all over the place.ive tried changing directions and a harness and a chokechain not that i agree with them but none have worked.when i take him out and he pulls i give him a little tug on his collar and this works for about a minute then he is off again.does anyone know an effective way to stop him pulling or a website wherei can get FREE info on this.

Clicker training rocks! Also you could try a no pull harness (they attach at the front, they don't cause pain, they just make pulling counter productive)
