first lesson with a new competition obedience trainer and it went very well. we did 98% foundation work, which is what we needed and need more of. attention, 101 things to do with a box, choose to heel, more attention. the new trainer is a big clicker person and a HUGE play reward person. play reward is fantastic with luce, so that's great.
i had moments when i wondered whose dog luce was channelling because the dog sitting calmly and staring at me while somebody walks around the room, and then walks up closer, and then TOUCHES her is not my dog.
so anyway, at the very end, we're talking about plans for the future, what i want to accomplish, what i want to do in lessons. she whipped out a dumbbell, which luce has never seen before, showed it to luce who was all OMG YAY!! and dropped it on the ground.
luce went over, nosed it, picked it up by the end, set it down, picked it up correctly, and then when i asked her, she came over to me with it. i was just over the moon. we had a huge party with lots of tuna fish and roughhousing.
trainer said "do you know how many people would kill for that?"
i love my dog. sometimes she's a miracle.
