Our neighbor has a couple of apricot trees that overhang onto our backyard. We've been trying to pick-up all of the fruit as they fall into our yard but sometimes Abby (the older of our 2 Brussels) will get one without us noticing. She's been gagging at night lately and has thrown-up 2 pits to our knowledge. Should we be taking her to the vet and get her tummy X-rayed??

Yes they are as they are to humans too. They have a form of cyanide in them. They were using them in the 70's and 80's to make laiatril a med they claimed to cure cancer. Most people who took the treatments did not live as it masked the cancer leading them to believe it worked.

I don't think the cyanide is too much of a concern unless she is eating tons of them every day. Also, I doubt she's able to crack the pits open so I think that makes cyanide even less of an issue.

However, there is significant risk for obstruction. You should definitely take her in for an X-ray!

Most definitely!

I would teach them that the apricots are a big no-no. The leave-it command would work well here. Good luck.
