If you board your puppy for a short while (like 7 days or so), doesn't that kind of cause them to take a huge step backwards in house training? I mean, the dog has been in your house under constant supervision for weeks or months, and you haven't given him the chance to eliminate in the house or in his crate. Suddenly, he's in a kennel. Isn't he forced to eliminate in the kennel? Won't that undo a lot of your training, and make it very, very difficult to catch up again when you return?

Find a boarding place that will address your concerns and supervise him enough to make sure he doesn't go to the bathroom inside.

That is why we waited to get my daughter her pu p until after vacation. I just wouldn't feel right leaving her.

Dogs have no sense of time like we do. So leaving him for two days, or two weeks makes no difference to him.
What boarding facility have you looked at that doesn't walk the dogs?
I work at a doggie daycare/boarding facility. It is free play for boarding dogs, with the daycare dogs, as long as they behave and are altered. If the dog cannot play, or is instructed to have limited play time, they are put into one of our rooms. Our rooms are about 4' x 5' with open ceilings. Doors are covered with plexi so the dog cannot injure themselves. If the owner requests a crate, then we accomodate their request.
Any dogs left inside their rooms are walked at LEAST 4 times a day. If it's a puppy, or a dog known to potty more than that, we walk them more often. Our indoor play area's are made so the dogs are allowed to eliminate, however, I think the dogs only do so because there is still enough odor for them to smell (but not to a human), which encourages others to go. Of all of the puppies we've had come in, none of them have complained about having trouble with house training after. You'd be surprised at how well some puppies do with holding it. Usually the excitement of us coming in in the mornings is enough to make them mess. But they are walked immediately and cleaned up.
I would look for a boarding facility that will accomodate your needs. If you need to, try taking him for day care a couple of days and see how he reacts when he comes home. The usual response is that they sleep the rest of the night :) lol
I would not be too concerned about it, as I have never heard of it yet. We try to make the dogs feel as comfortable as possible, and fulfill any of the owners requests.
But that is my take on it. :D

I hear that all the time and I don't believe it. How can anyone prove that?
