An old lady down the street puts out sliced bread in her driveway from time to time for birds or whatever. My dog will devour it when I stop there to talk to her. I was concerned but the lady said that bread is O.K. for dogs. Is this true?

Have you taught "leave it" or a similar command? I wouldn't feed bread to my dogs... but that is me. I would assume small amounts would be fine, but I'm no vet. :)

That really depends on how often your dog eats it and what amount and all that.
I would be more inclined to NOT let your dog eat the bread. Bread is not exactly a healthy choice for humans and we burn more calories just staying awake and breathing then most dogs burn all day.

Bread will certainly not harm your dog (unless there is an intense allergy to wheat, egg ect) but it will pack on the pounds if they eat it on a regular basis.
