Joints and Hardwood Floors

My apartment has hardwood flooring and I was just wondering if it's okay for my dog to be rocketing around the place. I imagine it's not as springy as carpeting or grass, so would his running around have a negative impact on his joints?

We also go to a nearby business district at night sometimes when it's empty because it's just empty space for like a quarter mile; it's concrete obviously, and he runs all over the place there too. Is that bad for his joints?

He's a chihuahua mix, so we're looking at around 10 pounds fully grown with tiny little legs.

i don't think you'll have a problem with such a small little guy... I have all hardwood and my little havanese did fine, but Bella my mix is 60 pounds and she has hurt herself by slipping the wrong way and twisting her back leg. We try to keep her calm while in the house, but sometimes she sees those birds outside and runs amuck!
