What that said, but should I be worried, she isn't skinny after she eats, it shows what she ate.. Well, not really, but she is fat after she eats, just like a human would.. But, its like a balloon. I don't know, I can't describe it!! Oh my gosh! And my mom keep saying she is fine. And shes right here sleeping, poor thing! :( I am trying to get a vet trip, but she keeps saying no!! What should I do?? Call the vet, and ask? Thank you for reading!

Really don't understand ..... to me you shouldn't see any difference after a dog has eaten .

Ok, I'm trying to get over the statement about "just round worms." She needs to go to a vet to make sure.
But, you never answered our questions in the other thread; after you said your mom refused to take her to the vet, we asked "She still has puppy shots to get, right?"

Is she always "blown up" or just after she eats?
Just so you know more about them, here are some articles on roundworms.

yes, I know, but that doesn't register in my mom's mind, this morning she had a really nasty diarreha!! And she is still a balloon.. And I don't want to lose her! But I can't take her to the vet!! :( I have no money, or a car..

If she is having diarreha AND still "blowing up" she needs to see a vet now.
How many puppy shots has she had?

she has had 3 puppy shots. but my mom sees no need to take her to the vet, it will probably be after the poor thing is dead. :( Or has no chance... This is frustrating, knowing that I can't do anything without adult supervision, or signature.. This is annoying me!! Knowing that I can't do anything, but beg and plead.. gosh... She is eating fine, and she has attempted to vomit, ever since she has gotten here... gagging noise, and my mom still sees nothing wrong!! I don't know what to do!

She needs to go to the vet. there is nothing else I can add.

I know, she definately needs to go to a vet. but I don't know how to get her there, if my mother refuses to get her there, or make an appointment! And my grandma can't, because she has no money, because she pays for my sister's house too.

Spirit, have you considered placing Whisper in a lab rescue?
She needs a vet now, and seeing as your mother won't allow it, I think a rescue would be a good idea. That way she can get the medical attetion she needs. I am sure their are some in your area.
Roundworms, Bloat, Puppy shots, ect are something you don't want to mess around with! :(
Just my 2 cents.

Exactly, I like everyone's 2 cents, because it gets you places. but, yes, I e-mailed her at work. And told her, because I know worms are nothing to mess around with, because, it could kill the animal, and bloat can too.

how old are u? you should find the nearest vet and take her in, even if you have to walk her there... if you have no money just tell them and they can send the bill to your mother... at least they can do that in Canada, not sure how vet offices are in the states...

Our vets around here get snappy if you ask them for a bill. well, at least the vet we took our cats to, they wanted the payment. But I will fight for it. If I knew where the truck's keys were, I would take them and drive. lol.

I have to agree. . .Whisper needs proper care and I think if your family can't give it to her she should be somewhere else where she gets it. . .:(

I agree, it doesn't sound like she would get the proper care in your home... hopefully your mother sees the light before its too late!

Maybe Whisper is just getting too much to eat at once? If Whisper had worms, wouldn't she be round all the time, not just after meals? My dog "blew up" once when she gorged herself on the dry cat food when we stupidly left it within her reach. She was round like a balloon, like Spirit describes. My dog threw up the cat food all over the stairs. Spirit, how much do you feed Whisper in one sitting?

It is not uncommon for puppies to have a very bloated looking abdomen after eating, especially if they are eating quickly and gulping a lot of air. This can make them uncomfortable after as well.
Roundworms would cause a constant bloated appearance in a puppy.
The structure of some dogs makes them appear to have a "herring gut" look after eating when they are puppies and sometimes just in general. I learned this from the very respected Pat Hastings who evaluates puppies for structural flaws etc.
I would recommend you feed Whisper less food more frequently throughout the day or find a way to slow her eating down like hand feeding or feeding her off of a cookie sheet.
If she is acting okay otherwise, I see no seed to panic.

ya, she does eat fast, I was feeding her Authority, and now Blue Buffalo. And that might be the diarrehea part. Switching foods. And it said to feed 1/1/4, every day, I might feed her little bits, of that cup, throughout the day, to slow it down. Little bits every 3 hours. Or so. And I'll see how that goes.

ah food change could def cause diarrhea, i had Baxter at the vet and he only ate twice while he was there overnight and when I brought him home he had loose stool for the following day.

I am confused. There was a thread about Whisper being too skinny, and now she's all bloated up ?? and diarrhea
well you could always call your local Animal Control officer and tell them you think your puppy is sick/has worms and your mom is refusing medical care for it..Gotta say tho,,your mom will probably get very PO'd and if the dog IS in need of medical care and she's refusing to take her,,she could be arrested for neglect..But ya know what,,if that was MY MOM I'd be on the horn calling the AC, just my 2 cents

Spirit,
Since you are a young teen, you do not have many options unless your mother agrees to them. So I will give you a bit of advice on worms. Just go to your local walmart or feed store and purchase some worm medicine.... make sure you buy a product with the active ingredient "pyrantel pamoate" this will kill roundworms and hookworms. (If tapeworms are the culprit this will not help.) Just weigh your pup and give the right dosage! You can also use this on Hershey and your cats... to prevent reinfestation. Then in two - three weeks after the first dose, give another dose. Make sure you get an accurate weight for each animal and dose for that weight. And most pharmacies will give you a syringe (without the needle) so you can give an accurate dosage.
I agree with the others about feeding multiple small meals a day, instead of larger meals.
You can try mixing some water in with dry food also, I always mix water with my dog's dry food.
I hope you can make the best out of what you have! :)
Sadly, Sometimes....the advice, .... "Get Your Dog To The Vet" will not help....as it is not possible unless a parent will agree.
