I live in the Houston area and I'm trying to find a new vet for my dog. The one I'm going to now give me weird vibes, and I kinda feel like they're in it for the money. They won some houston magazine award or something, and that's how I originally found them.

I new to the city, and I don't know anyone else who has a dog. I don't mind driving long distances to get there, and I'm more concerned with quality of care and experience than price.

How did you guys find your vets?

Call the local humane society and ask who they use. Most of the time vets who are willing to help out in the community tend to be very easy to deal with.
Or maybe ask at a local Petsmart type store?

I would look in the phone book for Pet Hospitals and Clinics .... the older and most private the better . If you go through Petsmart ... they will recommend their own . These to me would be recently vet grads who couldn't find better jobs . In over 50 years I've gone to 2 clinics ( changed because of moving ) both were established in the 50s . Visit your choice and get your first vibs from your questions and answers . Most have 4 to 6 vets and they've been there a long time . They replace their best with the best . If not , the newbies are out of there !
