Yesterday I took Duke to the vet to get his blood work done and get his meds for heartworm. While there I was asked if I wanted to run a wellness test on his blood to make sure everything was in good workin order. I said to run it not even thinking anything would show up as he is a very active dog in great shape and eats well. Well this morning I woke to a call from the vet and it was his blood work. The vet told me Duke has a raise in his liver enzyme and a raise in his white blood cells. Since this was a basic test the vet is running a more advance blood work to figure out what white cells its effecting. Needless to say Im one worried mommy. I hope this isnt anything serious. The vet said sometimes a bad diet can effect the liver enzymes. Duke is on performatrin. Not the best food out there but not the worst. He has a very sensitive stomach and anything too rich makes him very sick for days. Since I food this food he has been on for awhile now and has done wonderful. Any ideas of food to put him on thats not too rich? That was one of the vets suggestions to change his diet. I go friday to pick up some sort of vitamin I forget what its called for Duke to be on for 8 weeks then after that she will run more blood work. I never would have imagined that sometime was wrong and I would never have known if I didnt run the blood work Im so glad I did but now so worried. Sorry the post was so long just needed to vent about whats happening and if anyone has any ideas what could be going on. I know its still really early to have proper information but I just want him to be all better :(
