whenever our springer spaniel is angry, frustrated, or just upset, he gets very very aggressive, running around the perpetrator barking, lunging, and trying to bite

how do we fix this?

Can you give us a little more detail? Describe a couple of examples so we can help you out. :)

He's six months old and just got neutered, which has helped some. He gets aggressive when we do something he doesn't like, ex, take away a toy. Sometimes it's when he's frustrated, like when he tangles his long leash around the tree and is now stuck. We go to untangle him and he takes his anger out on us.

usually what we do, since he's such a social people-dog, is put him in the laundry room by himself for anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour. usually it calms him down, but it's not fixing the problem.

we've tried taking his mind off his anger by having him do some simple command, but that never works..

Sounds like a good candidate for NILIF training. Creature Teacher and Doberluv can explain it very well.

Be consistant with these suggestions and I think your dog will get the picture that he DOES NOT dictate to you whether you take something from him or anything else. You need to get back in the drivers seat. But need to do it without harshness, but instead by controlling his resources. This link will show you how. Keep us posted. Good luck.

I also know that Springer Spaniels can sometimes suffer from "Springer Rage".

I got this off of www.yourpurebredpuppy.com : 6. Dominance/Agression. Some English Springer Spaniels develop a serious temperament disorder that causes sudden flare-ups of extreme dominance or aggression. This disorder appears suddenly and apparently out of the blue in a previously normal Springer. The cause is unknown, though some studies have suggested a link to brain seizures.

I don't know if that is the problem, but it might be something to look into.
