my dog and potty

i have a 2 year old doberman he was potty trained and didnt go int he house at all then about 8 months ago he started peeing in the house this is a daily thing and i am at the end of my rope i have no clue what to do with him should i get him fixed? the smell is horrible someone plz plz help it seems to be in the same spots one is a hallway all over it and the other is a chair in the living room.

Has anything changed to make him pee in the house, there is the possiblity of having too train him again. I have mentioned this on another page, i came across it at my local vets and we use it with my parents dog it's called Dog Appeasing Pheromone (D.A.P) it's a plug-in and it helps with loads of different dog problems, very useful stuff :) .

If he's not fixed than he is probably just marking his territory. Getting him fixed is always a great option. It'll help prevent some cancers and lessen the annoying behaviours they can get.

I'm amazed that you are actually wondering if he's peeing because he's not fixed. Did you not read anything about dogs before getting one?

I don't think that was neccessary...........In the past none of my males were neutered and I never had house marking. Was there a dog in the house previously who had gone ??

Your dog is at the age where he is getting closer to maturity. I would guess he is defiantly marking because he is not neutered and this will only continue and get worse if this is indeed the problem. Get him neutered right away before this becomes a major habit!! Neutering wont completley fix the problem, but it is the biggest step you can take in helping it. If he is in the habit so much that neutering does not do the trick, then I would get him a belly band and have him wear it so he can't urinate all over your house. If you do neuter him, don't expect immediate results, you have to give him about a month for his "manly" hormones to filter out. In the meantime, try to clean up as much urine staining as you can, and start fresh after the neutering :) Please understand that neutering actually makes your dog healthier and can make him happier and less agitated as well. Male dogs that are NOT NEUTERED are the #1 dog to be hit by cars because of their urge to roam. Help the boy out, and have the surgery done so he can be the household pet you want him to be. :)

ok i have a husky female with the same promble that keeps peeing in the house she 7 months old would getting her fit help that any..?

Sorry...same thing doesn't really apply to females. If she has favourite spots I suggest feeding her in these spots so she knows that it's her place, for eating, not for peeing. They are like us, you wouldn't eat off the toilet and neither will she, eventually.
Or you could go right back to crate training her, and tie her to your belt when she's up and about to catch her when she does it. Make a loud distracting noice to stop her, and take her right outside.

Make sure to clean up any previous pee spots with an enzymatic cleaner like Nature's Miracle. Using anything else (household cleaners, bleach, vinegar...etc.) will NOT work...you might no longer smell the smell but your dog will, and will go on the same spots again and again.
