The puppies are going on 3 weeks old (come Saturday) and we've been introducing them to sounds left and right. I even got "growled" at a few times because Willy didn't like a certain sound. Anyway, they are starting to potty on their own. Shorty is keeping the area clean but I'm wondering at what age should we start potty training? I realize almost 3 weeks of age is prbably too young. Should we start after they wean?

Thanks!
Chrissy

If you sell them you probably will not do much house breaking. You could start at six weeks but I think eight would be more successful. If you sell at 10-12 weeks then you will start them on house breaking (and further socialization, outside). I'm glad to see everything is going well! :D

Thanks Maxy. I wasn't sure if I could "try" to start housebreaking sooner. They are bundles, let me tell ya. LOL They love to chew on each other and have been known to knaw on me given the chance. Of course, with them being so small, I see the mouth wide open and head going towards a body part, I just move the body part. LOL

We're keeping Willy without a doubt. I'm his human. I walk into the room and say "Hi puppies" his head comes up and he toddles over to me. He loves to lay in my lap for his naps. I'm trying to imagine him all grown and wanting to lay in my lap. :yikes:

At this age I had the whelping pen 1/2 paper and 1/2 bedding . Then at play time outside of pen ... I had newspaper available and slowly through the weeks cut down on areas . Good luck !! The secret is to keep areas clean .
