I was the one who had a dog named poe who is a jack russell/pom. I havent been on here in i think almost 2 years. I also have a new puppy! He is a basset/ beagle. He was the only one of the litter that you could hold and he'd stay perfectly still hw is a little boy and his name is dylan. He is very laid back....and im going to start walking him in a few days for he is 8 weeks..my question is though he plays with my dog poe who is a bit bigger then him (dylan is just a puppy) will this make him aggressive. po eunfortunetly is a bit aggressive we took him to two puppy schools since 11 weeks. He is sweet and obedient to his family just not other people (we are still working with him). Though dylan seems to have a different disposition all togetheer. so far he doesnt care who pets him or picks him up.. and poe is gentle with him too..(When poe gets used to the people or things hes really sweete). But i think poe is teaching dylan to rough house, and dylan is starting to bark while playing. He is playing he goes after poe and poe is really gentle, he'll let dylan pll his hair nd everything. Hes getting his next shot tomorrow so im hoping to walk him later this week. I had to get dylan a sweater, because with this wheather right now he just gets scared and freezes. Poe is 15 pounds , dylan is probably around 7..hes really cute..cant wait o talk you y'all agian..i hope you remmembe rme im sure some of you will.excuse the grammer im in a rush

Hi and welcome back, I was not here two years ago so I don't know you but I think I can help a little. It is fine that they rough house as long as no one gets hurt. He must learn that he can rough house with dogs but not people so if he ever trys it with you get up and stop playing. If you really want him to stop barking while playing than as soon as he starts take one of them away, although I don't really believe the barking will be applied to other things (regular barking) if it really bothers you you can stop it. Don't worry if the puppy bothers your other dog he'll let him know, he sounds like a very good big brother. I'd love to see pictures of your dogs :D and hope you enjoy the forum!

hi erin.
Yea also i know puppies are not supposed to be taken away from their littermates two young because it is at 6 and 7 weeks they learn to behave with other dogs, so they know what hurts, and whats ok...and i think poe is doing a good job, to also help him. I took him for a little walk (still cold here, his paws stil arent too worn, short short hair..) but hopefully when it gets warmer.. iknow i want to post a picture of Dylan..he looks like hush puppy exactly. His eyes are droopy but not as droopy as a regular basset puppy..he s very cute..if you want to see a picture of poe..you can go to puppy pict ures click search then type in poe...he will pop up right away... Im not to good at posting stuff... but yep thats him..he really does look like a hush puppy though..I dont know if thats what all basset puppies look like but he fits it to a tee.
