I am just curious for all who own these two breeds, how is there shedding different? Do they both shed year round? I hear Lab hair is everywhere and sticks on everything.

Basically they shed the same ...... Golden hairs , being longer, don't seem to stick into things as much .

My friends are looking to adopt a lab..they're in the process of waiting for their application to be "oked"...I was wondering...in comparison to, say pit bulls (which I'm familiar with), how much do labradors shed?

Goldens and Labs shed about the same, but Labs more BLOW there coat as Goldens are ALWAYS sheding, Golden hair is VERY annoying IMO, it is so fine its gets eveywere and it just clings on to your cloughs. Labs more shed in the spring and do the hole blow there coat thing.
In terms of the sheding between the Pit Bull and Lab I would say the lab sheds WAY more, they shed seasonaly were I dont really think pits are big sheders.

Wish you could have told that to my grand-labs !! They shed daily !! I find golden hair easier to pick up .....especially on hardwood floors or tile . Tend to be more like dust bunnies and collect ...where as lab hair just scatter and lay there .

I have a Black Lab and she constantly sheds everywhere. She is a great dog but the shedding is horrible. It imbeds in our carpet and gets on the couches. It also gets all over the kitchen floor. The best investment I made was I got one of those Dyson Animal Vacuum Cleaners and it really gets up the dog hair My other vacuum did not do nearly the job. I am not a vacuum rep but for dog hairs this is the best.

Lab hair, being short, falls out constantly, and scatters, sticking to EVERYTHING.
Golden hair, being long, falls out, but usually sticks to their body a bit more, and when it does fall, it kind of clumps together, making little furballs all over the place.
They both shed year round, with labs being more consistent, where Goldens shed more heavily in the spring/fall.
I prefer Golden hair, personally.

^^^^^^^ me too !:D
ITA with Grammy.
They shed about the same amount but Golden hair is soft and tends to ball up and form tumble weeds. It doesn't weave it's way into things like furniture and clothes like the shorter pokier lab hair does. So to me, Goldens are easier to clean up after. I good brush with an undercoat rake once or twice a week goes a long way to helping with the hair everywhere. I like the soft fluffy feel of Goldens too:)
