View Full Version : Ele hasn't pooped all day!

So Ele, like the title says, has not pooped inside or out ALL DAY! She does this a lot where she'll only go like once a day but never ALL day. Is this normal for a puppy? She's on the same eating/potty schedule but we are switching her to Canidae. She's still getting her old kibble and we mix in a small amount of the Canidae and she also gets like a spoonful of plain yogurt with the active cultures too just because she likes it. She was having problems with the nature's variety raw patties and I didn't give her one today. The raw patties made her really loose and she pooped frequently and even was getting up during the night needing to go outside. So she didn't get one of those today but that is all that is different.

If she recently pooped a lot and had loose stool then she is empty! Give her a day to fill up and she'll be pooping again. It's normal for dogs with loose stool/diarrhea to have a day of not pooping when their poop is firming up and collecting inside again. Sorry to be so gross, lol!

It's not gross, it's very informative. I was just worried because she's never gone all day. Usually she'll go in the morning after her first meal and then agian around 10 p.m. but sometimes she'll miss one but never both. I got so nervous.

Keep an eye on her, but I bet she will poop tomorrow. I have dealt with your situation with dogs in the past and with dogs that came into the clinic with diarrhea. We would get the diarrhea under control and it would take them a day to have a bowel movement again...

I agree 100% with Showpug! Don't worry, one day without pooping is not strange after her diarrhea indeed, even if it happens first time to her. We experienced exactly the same with Maggie. Sure she will poop tomorrow.
