View Full Version : Okay Now What Do I Do????

Okay now what? I just took Sasha out to do her duties. I always go with her We play fetch for a few min'ts she goes off does what she has to I have a smoke. Now I bring her in she limping and bleeding. On the top of her right foot not on the bottom. I wiped it down and found a puncher wound. Actually 4 punchers. They look like an animal bite of some sort.
I did not hear her cry or a growl what could this be and should I be worried?

is she up to date on all of her shots?
Could it possibley be a repeatative snake bite?
I would CALL your vets and tell them the scenario ASAP! Ask them if she should be brought in..
The main worry I would have would be IF that other animal was rabid..
OR if those puncture wounds are going to cause infection..
It needs to be properly cleaned out with hibatain soap..

I would soak , add antibiotic and watch for ANY swelling or change in her ........vet immediately if a quick change . Otherwise ...off to vet in AM. I think if it was from an animal , you would have heard something ..... any nails from loose fencing ?

Okay I just cleaned it real good with Iodine soap. That's all I had in the house. I have called the after hours clinic and they said to keep an eye on her just as you all have.
As far as swollen she's not to bad. How do I stop her from licking it! The vet just said keep and eye on her!

What a night; I am off to the vets with Sasha. She's just laying around now, her leg is quite swollen so I am concerned. I can't understand what would have gotten her. We have a fully fenced in yard. But I guess we will find out shortly. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Well Sasha is at home now. The vet felt it was a rat bite. He put her on anitbiotic intervenus. The swelling is down she is still tired and we had to contact the board of health. It looks as though we all may need to take shots. Just a precaution they state. SaSha should be fine since she had all of her shots we just have to keep an eye on her for awhile.

Poor girl. A rat? Ugh. I prefer the dead rats in my freezer to any rat around my house. Thankfully for the black racers around here.

Yes we are all upset with the out come of the events of last night. Sasha is not the same since. I will be giving her a lot of spoiling she can't have treats or food till tomorrow but hey stuff happens. She such a sweet girl and this she did not deserve.
We had the Humane Society out as well. This way we can secure that the rat or rats are caught. Our neighbour is a real pig he leaves all kinds of junk around. According to the Humane Society and the board of Health this is why we are in this position right now. They say I can't put rat poison down so there are rat traps all over the place. Oh yeah the neighbour has received a notice to clean the mess up or be fined. At least they are working with me to clean up this bad situation

You won't believe this one.... The neighbours throwing a hissy fit!!!:yikes: Since he received the notice to clean the yard, he's throwing stuff at the house and screaming tones of threats.
If he keeps this up I will have to call the Police! What is wrong with people????? What can't he get?? He's put everyones life in a up roar already.

Well the police have come and gone; I explained the situation and they took the man away. They charged him with mischief uttering death threats and attempt of assault! Wow will it ever end!:yikes:

I can't believe what's happening by you. It's enough that you have to worry about getting your dog well again and now this stupid neighbor. I'm glad the police took him away; I just hope he doesn't start up again when he gets back home. Please be careful.

Yup this guy is crazy. :yikes: But hey they took him away and that is what matters. The Officer's returned with a conditions order. Peace Bond which states that he can not attend my address and or contact either of us directly or indirectly. How that is going to work is beyond me????:confused:
I know this much we are not getting another dog no matter what the MAN of the house says. I will not put another dog in this position. We may just sell and move. Who knows but this is just the start! I feel more is to come!:popcorn:

Sasha is doing exceptional well! Back to her bouncie happy self. Such a wonderful freind she is.
The building inspector came out this morning, he is such a nice guy! He asked how Sasha was feeling I said great! With in seconds out bounces happy Sasha. We both chuckled and he bent down to pat her on the head.
He was not pleased with the neighbour as the clean up is not going well. It is nice to know that the inspector is following through with the complaints.

Thank you;It is so wonderful that all of you care for her as much as I do. The SPCA just called asking how we were doing as well. These are just exceptional and caring individuals. They are sending a driver out to check out the situation and secure the traps. Gotta love the good people in the world:cool: :cool:
